Story of all my Decembers: Ten Days Behind on the Question Meme!

Dec 12, 2019 21:34

Where does the time go? (Don't answer that--) I see that I have missed questions about my holiday wish list, movies, books, and food, among other things! So forgive me if I cram everything in and and just give you a couple of favorites in each category:

1) My holiday wish list: Honestly, I'm hoping for some cool trinket from my Secret Santa at work. We had to fill out a form with our favorite color, book, etc. I put down Jensen as my favorite actor----

2) Movies this year? Haven't been to too many, but looking forward to the Star Wars thing. I very much enjoyed It: Chapter 2 and Knives Out.

3) Television this year? Aside from mourning SPN prematurely and wondering what my life is going to look like after May 18th? My husband and I finally watched Deadwood this year. That motherf*kr Swearengen blew me the f*k away.

4) Books this year? This should be easy for a librarian, right? Not so much--Probably the book that made the biggest impression on me was Destiny of the Republic by Candice Millard, a non-fiction history about James Garfield, the president who was shot by a mentally ill man and languished for months before finally passing away. The book covers the politics of his time (He died in 1881, in the middle of the controversy over Reconstruction in the South after the Civil War, and with the memory of Abraham Lincoln's assassination still a fresh wound on the public consciousness), and the state of the medical field, too, all in vivid and very readable prose. I realized when I started reading that I knew almost nothing about this remarkable man, and I'm glad to have rectified this a bit.

5) Food this year? I discovered that I really love fried pickle chips. Don't judge me.

6) Music this year? Most of my musical taste right now is informed by the show & conventions--Of course, I've been loving the Radio Company album, but thanks to SNS, I also discover Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats (who originated "SOB"). I'm in love with their song, "I Need Never Get Old".

7) Games this year? There's only one game for me: Guild Wars 2, the MMORPG I've been rage-quitting for the last five years. (I'm only kidding a little.)

8) Art this year? All I can say is that I wish I knew more about art, or could do anything myself!! I love all of the fanart that the community puts out into the world, though. I did my first SPN Reverse Bang this year, and had a good time with twisted_slinky's prompt, which was a beautiful watercolor of Bobby and the Weechesters.
