So I'm doing some research to see what new CD's I'm going to buy, and I'm running across the same problem over and over again ( Read more... )

I'm in complete agreement. Switchfoot really disappointed me. Apparently they can't speak about Christ during shows because it's in their contract?

Anyhow, what can you tell me about Building 429 or Day of Fire (who's frontman is the former Full Devil Jacket lead vocalist)?

Day of Fire is strange circumstance. Thewebsite message mentions nothing of Christ or even faith that I can recall, but lyrically, there can be no question to who he's singing.

Building 429 is lyrically without doubt as well, but I can't hit their website.

Thanks Joel.

Hey, I think Andy Hawkins may be going with me to San Antonio. I'll hit you up a week before we go, hopefully we can catch up then.

Yeah, Building 429 i definitely a Christian Band.

The 429 in their name is apparently based off of Ephesians 4:29.

I think it's great that you're actually looking into what the bands say about themselves and their music.

And, I've been meaning to ask you for a list of Christian bands that you think I'd like. Even at OBU there's this vacuum of good Christian music and I'm so out of the loop now I don't know what's out there anymore.

I don't really know if you'd be into the same stuff that I'm into, but you're more than welcome to have lunch with me some day and we can discuss it at length.

BTW: I just finished HP6. Did Prof. Flaherty ever remind you of any HP character?

Prof. Flaherty's seeming-disdain for students/education reminds me of Snape, but he looks kind of like Prof. Flitwick with a bit of Gringotts goblin... Who did he remind you of?

Lunch sounds good. I wanted to fit in another lunch or two with you and Danielle before I leave. Just tell me when!

OK, yeah, definitely had the Goblin from Gringotts in there.

And Flitwick as well.

Wasn't really thinking about his personality traits, but physically speaking.

Amen sir. At least for myself, I know I could not call myself a Christian and a musician (whenever I get to the point that I play in more places than my living room) without declaring it both in song and through my lifestyle and love.

So I take it that your name's Joel and you used to be my roomate. Howdy friend! Good observations, although I thought Grits was pretty straight forward in lyrics, but dunno about website or elsewhere, maybe I'm just stupid and naive. Anyway, what's up Joel!
