He didn't remember exactly how it happened. One minute he was babbling about a subject he's good at (archeology), showing her examples of the different earth and rock textures from Mesopotamian and Babylonian civilization--and the next thing he realized she was so close (or maybe he was too close to her), caught a whiff of her sweet perfume of flowery mysteries--so close that he had leaned forward to press a tentative kiss on her lips.
He hadn't been careful so they bumped noses, foreheads and almost cracked each others' front teeth (while chuckling and "ow!"-ing). But after a few awkward minutes, he tried again, tilting his head this time, just a little, and brushed her lips carefully, softly, slowly, until she returned his with a chaste one of her own.
