26/100 - Yokozawa no Baai novels

Although I did say I'd talk about GSNK, I decided to go with this one instead: YOKOZAWA NO BAAI NOVELS~

Yokozawa Takafumi was introduced as a minor character in Sekaiichi Hatsukoi, Takano's best friend and a capable Sales executive in the Sales department of Marukawa Shouten.

For those who has seen Sekaiichi Hatsukoi anime and read the first few halves of the manga, he's that grumpy character who tried wrecking Onodera and Takano's relationship throughout the series. To be perfectly honest, I found him annoying and too pushy when I saw him in Sekaiichi Hatsukoi. Not only because he was coming between the relationship of Takano and Onodera, but also because he didn't have any redeeming characteristics at all. UNTIL I DISCOVERED THE YOKOZAWA NOVELS.

I'm extremely grateful for September scans, especially fencer_x, for taking their time to translate all the Yokozawa no Baai novels (which is according to recent date, still on-going series).

You can read the translations here:
Vol 1
Vol 2
Vol 3
Vol 4
Vol 5
Vol 6
(maybe more to come...)
[If there's ever going to be an official English release, please buy them as well]

Thanks to fencer_x's clear translation and her writing voice, the Yokozawa arc is written with moving emotions and clear images of how his side of the story goes on after he had warned Onodera from going after Takano.

The story starts off with Yokozawa waking up naked in a hotel room. Then he realized there's someone in the shower and Kirishima Zen, the editor-in-chief of the Japun division, steps into the room. Some misunderstanding followed, or at least Yokozawa was the one who was out of the loop because he actually thought he and Kirishima had slept that night after his drunken stupor. Kirishima didn't give him any kind of explanation but instead demanded all of Yokozawa's time to eat and drink after work for several months. And then one day, Kirishima took Yokozawa home where he was introduced to Kirishima Hiyori, Zen's 10 year old daughter. As Yokozawa started spending time with the Kirishima family he was slowly sucked into falling for Zen.

The theme of Sekaiichi Hatsukoi is that one would never forget their first love. The same goes for Yokozawa's side of the story. His first love was and is Takano. In the whole duration of the novels, he learned to let go of Takano and finally found someone else to love. Despite his grumpy, intense demeanor, Yokozawa is actually very serious about everything he does, very dedicated to his work and now slowly learning how to love someone wholeheartedly without any emotional baggages he had endured when he thought Takano was the one.

Ever since I've discovered the novels, I'd decided that YOKOZAWA's love story is my FAVORITE.

Last year, 2014, Yokozawa's story was animated in the OVA. I was so looking forward to it~

It's 2/3 of the first novel which was animated in the OVA. Very well done if I do have to say so myself. It's much quieter than I thought but that's okay, maybe the producers are going for the dramatic, quiet fall in love scenes. I also wished to see the other novels get their own animation as well :))))

Overall, to those who dislike Yokozawa for trying to break up Onodera and Takano, PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME TO READ THESE NOVELS. Yokozawa is really sensitive too :)
