End of the Year writing meme

Jan 07, 2015 00:52

It's been a while since I did the review. I skipped so many years because I did not bother counting my writing. But I thought after some dilligent writing since 2013, I might as well review back my efforts.
END OF THE YEAR WRITING MEME
total number of completed stories: 16; various dead wips
total word count: 104,550 words [WHAT??]
fandoms written in: EXO rpf, Kuroko no Basket, Barakamon, One Piece, Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, Kingdom Hearts, Sekaiichi Hatsukoi, Himegoto Asobi

looking back, did you expect to write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d predicted?
I expected to write less because 2013 had been in my opinion, my most active year. I joined a lot of fic exchanges and thus brought up the count. But honestly, I've been hoping to write more fic for fandoms I'd obsessed for so long. So... maybe it's less than I expected.

what’s your own favorite story of the year?
I don't know... maybe Barakamon's " The Road to mangaka" because it's quirky and EXO's " In the beginning" because it's funny and has room to grow into a series.

did you take any writing risks this year?
- I joined A LOT of fanfic exchanges and it started since 2013 where exchanges ran the whole year and covered the first half of 2014. Counted back and I see I've joined about 7 - 9 exchanges, which is really taxing. I burned myself out in 2013 and beginning of 2014. I didn't think I could write so many fics above 2k in a short span of time and looking back, I managed it. Somehow. Losing sleep in the process.

- I joined Nanowrimo again and tried. AND WON! YAY!

do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the new year?
- finish any wip fics I've been drabbling recently
- finish the exchanges/fests/big bang I've joined earlier [for now it's the One Piece Big Bang and the KissFanxing fest]
- write a long fic of any fandom
- rehash the Nanowrimo 2014 fic and polish it.

best story of the year?
... not that I can think of...

most popular story of the year?
It's Barakamon's fic "The Road to mangaka". For some reason AO3 and FFnet readers love the ficlet so much I keep getting kudos and faves. o.o

story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
I don't know.

most fun story to write:
I admit I enjoyed writing "The road to mangaka" and Kurobasu's " Gift for master"

story with the single sexiest moment:
uhm. I don't remember writing some sexy times fics this year. Hmmm, wait there was a moment I DID write in my Nanowrimo fic. Hahahahahah.

Wait, oh, I did wrote a sort of kink tease fic for Himegoto Asobi, "Anything goes". So~ I realize I like writing cosplay kink hahahah.

most sweet story:
EXO's " I'm here" story. I enjoy writing friendship gen fics. It's just that I usually don't get ideas or motivation to make them work. The sweetest I could manage this year, sadly.

"holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you!" story:
I think for EXO's " Journey of a Thousand words", it deals with an approach to a relationship I detest. I seriously am against adultery.

story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
EXO's " Journey of a Thousand words" because of Lu Han's approach.

most unintentionally telling story:
Hmmmm I don't remember any. Maybe for " Flying on Clipped Wings"? I honestly don't remember.

hardest story to write:
All of them
seriously ALL  OF THEM

EXO's "Flying on Clipped Wings" and "Everlasting". I had the basis of the story in mind, I had some bullet points written out, analyzed left and right but I couldn't seem to make the story work or flow. Especially the latter one. sigh.

biggest disappointment:
"Flying on Clipped Wings" and "Everlasting" and maybe my Nanowrimo fic.

biggest surprise:
Winning Nanowrimo 2014, despite having no idea how to fill the story -- they were all one shots in a whole series and then I flipped back and forth in time trying to fill the details, and then my computer died D: But I finished the last lap of my writing spree by handwriting as fast as I could.

And also, I was surprised I didn't do so bad with the KHR fics, especially "Home run base game", because it's an AU where I switched Yamamoto and Hibari's position in canon. It was an interesting take to see a laidback Yamamoto as the head disciplinary committee member and Hibari as an angry, driven baseball player. hahahaha.
