Hear ye, hear ye, all you critics, naysayers, and cynics. Phantom of the Opera. *nods* I went and saw it today. *nods again* Really, I think I can sum the entire movie up in one word.
Wow.
You know that tingling sensation you get up your spine when you see a really really good part in a movie? Yeah, that sensation was all over the place while I was watching this. They stayed true to the original script, and there were only a few parts where they opted to switch things around. And when they did decide to change things, or alter the story, they did so with dramatic flair and competence, not detracting from the production at all. Honestly, this is the best movie I've seen all year, I can say easily. The acting was great, and when it wasn't, it was at least adequate enough to carry the story. The singing was breathtaking, with only minor alterations to the already great notes that existed. The setting was beautifully done... Y'know, I could go on for hours on everything they did right. There's really nothing I can think of that they did glaringly wrong. Certainly, a minor change here or there, but nothing that detracted greatly from the show.
So, in a nutshell... Go forth and see this movie. You won't be dissapointed.
