My God the Heat!

I've just been informed by one of my friends that I haven't updated LJ for a while. I decided to come and see for myself, and he was right. Last post was at the end of April. I'm horrible when it comes to updating this thing. I'll try to do better.

Summer vacation is here and I couldn't be happier about it. Sure, it's hot and sticky like a prostitutes thinga thang outside, but at least I'm not walking to class in the scorching heat. However, I am taking this ridiculous online class though. It wasn't bad the first week. I managed to read most of my chapters at work and I passed my first test. That was, sadly, when the chapters were about... oh... 15-20 pages each. Now, these suckers are ranging from 35-45 pages. That's insane! Did I mention it's political science? I hate politics. So why am I taking it? Well, this is the last class I need to fulfill my general education requirements for UNCP. I figured taking it online would still leave me free time do actually, I don't know, have a life. I was wrong. I work 7 hours a day, five days a week. When I'm not working, I'm reading that stupid book. His syllabus has us reading a chapter a day. We have a test tomorrow on chapters 6,7,8 and 9. Which of those chapters have I read? Not a damn one. I'm partly through chapter 7 right now. That still leaves me with 3 and a half more chapters to read. I doubt I'll finish them, but my goal is to get at least two read. The test is online and open book. Normally I would say screw it and take my chances, but we only have 75 minutes and open book tests are hard as hell when you have no idea what chapter the question is coming from. I promise to do better with the next chapters. Promise, promise, promise.

My cell phone is acting stupid... A text message is trying to come through but it keeps saying that the message is rejected because the memory is full. ...come again? I deleted all my old text messages, removed the battery (that's what the Verizon guy told me to do) and put it back in and I still get the same message. What's worse, is that the message keeps trying to come through, so about every 5-10 minutes, this sucker vibrates or plays "Pump It" by the Black Eyed Peas (my text message ringtone). It's really annoying. I can't turn it off because... well, it's my cell phone and I never turn it off. I have to take it to a Verizon technician, but the ones here in Fayetteville suck. My last phone had audio problems. I would be on the phone talking one minute, and then the next minute I couldn't hear the person on the other end, but they could still hear me. I had to exchange that phone twice. I would think that they would have realized that it was obviously the model and wouldn't keep giving me the same type of phone. People are idiots... What's worse is that the audio would come and go. If I couldn't hear the person anymore, I would hang up and call again. Normally I could hear them the whole time. When I took it to the Verizon people, the technician fiddled with it, gave it back stating he didn't know what the problem was, and it turned out that he killed my audio for good. No matter what I did, the sound was gone. I say again... people are idiots...

The upside of this summer has yet to come. On my birthday I am going back to Busch Gardens! I went for the first time last year and loved it. I can't get enough of it. This might have to be a yearly thing. Two people from my job are going too. We're going to meet up with Monica and ride rollercoasters until the cows come home... or until the park closes. Whichever happens first. Of course everyone I tell claims that I should spend my birthday getting smashed. I'll be 21, I can get drunk anytime I want now. It's not like I can go to Busch Gardens everyday. So I figure, Busch Gardens on my birthday, alcohol (maybe) the next day. I'm not a huge drinker anyway, so the temptation isn't really there. It will be good to be able to go to a restaurant and order an alcoholic drink without being denied. (A week before school ended, I went to Outback with some friends and tried to be slick and order a drink. 4 out of the six people there were 21 or over and weren't carded when they ordered their drinks. So, naturally, I decided to try and order a drink before we left. I looked older than at least two of the 21+ people but all of a sudden the waitress wanted to ask for IDs. It's a damn shame).

It's about to start storming, so I figure I'll take this time and try and read some more poli sci. I hope to update this thing again within the next week or so. So many things I want to talk about, but so little time. But horray for a Pembroke free summer! (Well, almost... damn Pembroke online class...)
