WOW GOLD DRAGON CLAN YOU ARE DICKS. COMPLETE DICKS. I like that the story makes it obvious that you're all UTTER ASSHOLES who really did deserve what you got, cruel though it was, because it's not uncommon in fantasy stuff to have a race like that (usually elves!) that's treated as if they are, in fact, just Pure Good, when in fact they're completely shitty, conceited, narcissistic, xenophobic ASSHOLES. :| (At the end, when the head dragon was all ~why is this happening~ blah blah blah I was mentally screaming at him BECAUSE YOU ARE A BAG OF DICKS. Because seriously, you pull a genocide and expect to never get any fallout? What. The fuck.)
...yeah, I definitely empathised with Valgaav on this one. And yeah, I agree by the end he'd gone too far and needed to be put down, BUT. :/ Shittiest life, it's not *surprising* that he had an unhealthy reaction to all that bullshit, in the end. (Compare this to my reaction to Hellmaster! Storytelling really does make a difference.)
I did like that for most of the entire season it's hard to say who's doing the right thing. For most of it, everyone's a bit right, and a bit wrong, and that makes it hard, but it also rings truer, you know? The world is a complicated place! Evil for evil's sake is pretty rare - it does happen, but most people have some sort of logic that makes what they're doing seem like the right thing. Logic just isn't. You know. Just the pure maths-logic of formal philosophy, it's a mutable, living thing as much as people are, I think. And sometimes it's resting on shaky foundations, or lies, or twists in on itself in pain, and. Yeah. The results can be evil, definitely. But it's a different sort of evil from, again, Hellmaster's nihilism for the sake of it.
Fillia! I really disliked her at the beginning - so self-rightous and xenophobic, gaaaah. But she changed, and grew, and I quite like her now.
Xellos continues to be himself. I wonder how much of what he does is because of orders, and how much he chooses for himself. (I wonder what he, personally, wants out of life.) He continues to annoy and amuse me by turn, which I think is the idea of him, so.
What the hell were those crack eps! The Wonderland one was pretty hilarious! And Amelia's two, how was GOURRY the one with an actual grip on reality? (The sentai spoof was kinda awesome. |D)
SPEAKING OF GOURRY, what the hell is he thinking, giving up the Sword of Light? D: D: D: D: BEST SWORD EVER DON'T JUST LET IT GOOO. ...yes, it's probably a fair choice, I just really like it. Also, without his magic sword, how the hell is Gourry going to fight at all against mazoku etc.? =/ I guess I'll find out in the next season! ...tomorrow.
