SO I JUST HAD A MASSIVE ENTRY ABOUT FFXIII-2 AND A CONFUSION OF PRINCES AND I ACCIDENTALLY HIT RELOAD, FUUUUUCK.
Anyway, basic verdict: ENDINGS ARE DISAPPOINT, for both of them. :|
General gist! FFXIII-2: basically the ending is pretty fucked up, and WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS TO BE CONTINUED SHIT, I mean SERIOUSLY!? I go through all that and it's NOT EVEN THE ENTIRE STORY? ARRRRGH.
ALSO WHAT THE FUCK SERAH, YOU WERE ACTUALLY GROWING AS A CHARACTER AND YOU JUST. DIE. JUST FALL OVER DEAD. Fuuuuucking hell. (There was a reaction post on
ff_meta I'd been saving to read when I'd finished that pointed out that in the XIII-verse, there are currently ZERO major female characters left alive, well, and uncrystalised. NOT. EVEN. ONE. The closest we get is Chocolina, who is... the time-travelling shop owner. Yeah. FFFFF.)
Also Hope's story SUCKS, and we needed more Sazh and Dajh.
A Confusion of Princes: The setting is MASSIVELY MASSIVELY DYSTOPIC sci-fi, to the effect that I pretty much was going D:!!!!! at a lot of the background details. Very well written dystopia, and you could see the fucked up crazy that let it get that way, though it is definitely fucked up crazy, not just people being assholes that gradually slides into dystopia. (I'm sorry, but. Mind slaves. Any time you start with the mind slaves, it's fucked up crazy, at least in my book.)
Khemri's story was mainly driven by his SUDDEN CLICHÉ ROMANCE at the end, which was so shallow and taken as obvious I really can't buy it. And it offered no hope that the fucked up dystopic things would ever change, so. :|
On the other hand, while the romance was fucked up, most of the gender stuff aside from that was pretty good. Some things that made me look at it sideways, but definitely a lot better than most things. SUCH AS FFXIII-2, to name a completely non-random example.
If you want me to actually essay at you, ask, but given the time I should really brush my hair and go to bed already... *facepalm*
Oh, and also I've learned how to use the mail feature on the 3DS! It's all write it yourself! PICTURES, not that I'm that good at them, heh. My handwriting magically looks pretty good, though.
