KNITTING! \o/

Apr 29, 2012 00:30

So, we went to a wool and knitting market this morning.

I uh. ¬¬;; Bought quite a bit of wool. Only the hand-dyed stuff was expensive, but it was quite expensive, so I ended up spending something like $60. ^^;;; Still, I did get 13 balls / 800g of wool, which is really not bad!

And then I came home and had to find somewhere to put it. /o\ So I cleaned out all my craft stuff. Threw some stuff out, reorganised some things... still have a box full of scraps, which I initially looked at and went WHY DID I KEEP ALL THIS... and then I realised one of the smaller scraps was exactly the right size to make a needle-case for my set of 5 2.75 double point needles. So I made that. I think it worked out pretty well! :D

And yeah, the box is staying. *facepalm* Going to try and get rid of enough fabric that I can get rid of the box, though. I think I saw some really cheap stuffing at Dimmeys last time I was there, so maybe I'll go and get some, and make some cushions tomorrow. I can always do with more cushions, particularly big ones. They're much better for lounging in.

I'm also offering to make Mama a case for her double point needles. She has one for (most of) her long ones, but not for the double points, and it can't be too hard... And she thinks she wants a rolly thing/booklike thing/etc rather than individual ones, though she was Very Impressed by the individual case I made, and would've been happy with some of them until I mentioned the other. Heh.

Anyway, that was pretty much my day entire! Except I did read a Discworld casefic, which I became inordinately fond of the instant I read the first paragraph, which I will copy for you here.

This is the Discworld, which travels through space on the back of a giant turtle. For some years now, scholars of the Disc have been pursuing a theory that the moods of the star turtle, Great A'Tuin, are somehow transmitted to the population of the Disc through a form of transference they call Chelemovediffamy. This goes to show:

1. That everything sounds more impressive in Latatian.
2. That people will study just about anything if there's grant money available.
3. Why so many people that morning were in an equally bad temper.

The fic is The Case of the Vanishing Vampire, and it's by
