SONA 2011 (Reaction Paper)
From last year to this year, there hasn't been much of a change. People are still suffering from financial problems, and the condition of our environment has worsened compared to last year. People are having problems in terms of earning money, even if it is just for the person's basic needs. There are less fishes being caught since our coral reefs have experienced devastating damage. The tress in our forests are lessening because it is inevitable that we cannot stop chopping down trees for we need its wood to survive. These are but a few reasons that we do not have a better life, but I believe that our president, President Benigno Aquino has been doing his best to find efficient solutions to make our lives better. He has been trying to raise environmental awareness. He has also been doing his best as a president to encourage us fellow citizens to help the less fortunate, especially those who require medical attention.
The president has announced the present state of our nation in his SONA speech in 2011. Despite him delivering a very strong and admirable speech, I think he has not stated entirely the real state of our country. There definitely has to be some secrets that he has been keeping, or the government officials are still debating whether or not they should disclose the news to the public. Most often, many are victims of corruption wherein corruption is traced back into the government. When the government officials find among themselves the ones who abuse their high positions, they would surely not want to have any information about what happened to be leaked out. The government would want to keep its reputation from being destroyed. The president would also want to prevent the undesired information to be exposed to everyone since the president requires our trust and commitment to cooperate alongside with the government.
