The Internet hates me (and so does my computer)

Jun 24, 2004 00:44

Here I sit, trying to log into LJ & playing KoL and the pages just don't want to load. Which sucks extra because I'm on DSL. Luckily, I'm getting enough from kingdomeofloathing.com to tell that I'm not the only one seeing lag on their site ;) But for crying out loud, why would the Internet decide to be mean to me and laggy like that? sheesh... what'd I do to it?

well yea..
that...
and that too... right right... but....

I mean...

What have I done to it lately?
Honest... it's been days since I've left this computer on for a week or so straight downloading a whole que of files and filling the HD to capacity & all
and what with Internet Time being so much quicker than RL time... it shouldn't still be mad at me for trying to download its entirety, should it? I mean, come on!

Maybe it's just enviromental...
How's the weather out there?

Today on the way home from work, I heard on the radio one of those emergency broadcast system announcement things (which is kinda cool because usually all I hear of those are tests of the system). It was a storm warning. Penny-sized hail, lightning, 60-70mph winds. Good stuff =)
It wasn't near me though.
A few minutes later, another one comes on including more counties saying the storm is moving east.
Which sounds alrightish except the counties they were adding in were south of the others, not east.
Just as that one ends, it does it again with more warnings from the first counties making the storm out to be slightly worse & they're telling people to go inside in case the storm decides it wants to turn into tornado-weather. I think they mentioned something about localized flash-flooding too...
Great I think to myself...
an hour or an hour and a half pass.... I'd gotten out of my car and wasn't listening to the radio...
it rains here for a few minutes
by the time I go outside again, everything's dry again as if there hadn't been any rain.

Anyway, I get back into my car & about 5 minutes later, there's another of those broadcasts, it seems that even though this storm was moving east, it's STILL in the same counties and the automated weather thing is telling us that the storm may develop into a tornado. Right after that broadcast, we get a meteorologist repeating the info. Just as he's about done he gets interrupted by the emergency system again w/ another auto-update putting those counties on tornado watch and telling everyone to go indoors now. With a warning that night-tornados are more dangerous.
Just as that emergency broadcast is finishing it gets interrupted by another one upgrading the counties to tornado warning.
Then the meteorologist comes back on again with repeats etc & telling people about finding a small interior room to hide in etc etc

fun fun weather tonight
oh yea
real fun
joy
