Hamlet fic
oh my god trying to figure out where all my fics are and deciding which ones I want to catalog here is very strange. I wrote so many of them so long ago... for example, this one is from 2009!
Title: "Changed"
Fandom: Hamlet
Pairing: Hamlet/Horatio, sortof onesided.
Word count approx. 2,300
Summary: Hamlet returns from the pirates a different person, stronger and nearly unrecognizable.
Note: I'm currently completely infatuated with the idea that Hamlet spends a fair amount of time with the pirates who kidnap him en route to England, and that the time at sea allows him to develop into the Hamlet of Act 5, who is so very different from the Hamlet in Acts 1-4. This is sortof a piece about that, and sortof just me loving to write Hamlet as desperately in love with an oblivious Horatio.
Also note that this story takes place in a bizarre middle time, where all my ideal Shakespeares take place, which isn't quite antique, but isn't quite modern either. It's a world of sailboats and cigarettes, of wearing boots and jeans and having stylish haircuts.
