Mine started with a bang. Well, technically a crash. A car crash, actually. Mine, to be specific.
So, I'm heading to school Thursday morning (10-ish) and going onto the North I-205 ramp from 500. As I'm almost completing the curve, a rather large tank of an SUV comes barreling up behind me. I'm about ready to hop into the left lane, so I tap my gas a bit more to get the hell out of this guy's way. Well, since it had been raining until about 9:55 that morning, the roads were still very wet and my tires didn't appreciate it that much. My car started sliding into the left hand lane, which would've been just peachy (that's where I was heading anyway), but unfortunately it was being used by another car. To avoid said car, I turned my wheel to the left to try to duck in behind him (at worst, dinging his bumper, right?). Well, my car decided that would be the perfect time to grab traction, so my car stopped sliding on the ramp, my wheels caught track (which happened to still be pointing left) just long enough to send me into a counter-clockwise circle. Bad times. My efforts to rectify the situation by straightening out the wheel managed to very successfully place me perpendicular with the flow of traffic, still sliding about (I'm guessing) 40mph. Well, like an enraged bull pointed towards a crimson matador's cape, my car charges straight into the I-205 barricade. Worse times. I hit the barricade straight on, and my car makes this nerve-scraping crunching noise as it grinds the nose across six feet of barricade. Damn shitty times.
I swear. A lot. Hop out of the car and inspect the damage. It didn't seem to bad: it was a cosmetic nightmare, but my turn signals stll work, my headlamps are toast, and the engine was still running. I hobble up to WSUV and go to class. If I didn't have my Physio mid-term on Tuesday, I would've stuck around and tried to figure things out then, but as it was, I just didn't have time.
Came back from classes that night to a dead car battery. Apparently in the crash, some electrical connection managed to ground itself making the battery draw its power into seeming nothingness. So after charging up the battery, a friend of mine helped bring it to a shop which is where it now sits.
It sounds bad, but there are so many ways it could've been worse.
1. I could've hit someone else
2. My car could be totalled instead of just out of comission
3. I could've been seriously hurt
etc. etc.
After the shock wore off a few hours later, my right hip decided that it was really pissed off at me for the whole "wreck thing" and decided to cause intense amounts of pain. The pain is still there, but a lot better now. Other than a painful/stiff hip, I'm just fine. No broken/sprained bones/joints, no concussions, no serious threats.
Alright, I'll post about the rest of my last few days later. Right now, bed time.
