Lookie, lookie. I came back to visit my old journal. It's been almost a year. I figured it's time. :)
Ah, my flickering green candle. I missed ye so.
So maybe I'll try updating here again more often. I do have a lot of thoughts rattling around in my little brain.
For instance, today I found out that my iguana, Don Iguan, can escape his new cage. Good to know. He free roams the reptile room half the time anyway, so I'm not that concerned, but I will need to buy a lock to secure the door for when, say, someone comes over and they just HAVE to see the deck, but are terrified of ornery six foot iguanas.
I'm happy to say that my chondro, Gamut, never even comes close to trying to escape. Which is good, because he's tiny and I'd NEVER find him again. (He's SO adorable, though. Feeding night is tomorrow. One of the few times he's truly active.)
I'm trying VERY hard not to think of buying a monitor. They're so amazing, but I only have so much room - not to mention money. Maybe one day...
I realize that my thoughts are more often consumed by my reptiles these days. Not sure why now more than before, but I think I'm okay with it. They're fun to learn about and plan for. Maybe one day when I'm rich (hah, yeah right!) I'll get into some rescue work. I already take in reptiles when someone I know says they don't want theirs anymore. That's along a similar vein, since about 90% of the time people don't keep their reptiles correctly, and they're not too healthy. Don Iguan was kept of repti-bark with no UVB and fed frozen veggies and pellets. (Bad, bad, bad) Maize, the Uro, was kept on calci-sand and fed frozen green beans only, it seems, and never socialized. Both have some issues. But now that I have them, I really love them. Even the viscious monster who is currently lounging atop my armchair.
Well, wonderful. I went in to mist the snake down tonight, and he was in hunting mode, so I decided to feed him a day early, only to find that the freezer I kept the rats in had been UNPLUGGED and ALL of them are beyond saving. Which means that's $50 completely down the drain. Those rats should have lasted him at least the next 3 months. Now tomorrow I'll have to go to petsmart and spend $15 on ONE rat for him, not to mention that I need to order new rats right away. Of course when I have no money.
How does this stuff *always* happen to me? This really REALLY sucks. I can't believe all that money is just wasted. I spent $50 on three rats, basically. I'm so incredibly disappointed.
I guess I'll get to check out the big cheese factory sooner than I planned. I didn't have a good first experience with rodentpro. They oversold the rat size I needed and backordered me. I'd ordered them so I would get them when I got the snake. Instead, they waited until I called them up, said "oh too bad we'll put the order through next week" and that was it. So I didn't get my order for three week after I got the snake. I'd rather not use them again if I don't have to. Their customer service really stinks.
Crap. I can't believe this happened. This really, REALLY sucks.
Heck of a return entry, huh?
