Halloween is the holiday where the dumbest people in the world have free reign all night.
I swear people must think that wearing a costume gives them leave to not think at all anymore.
"Well, it's very dark, and I'm wearing a pitch black costume, and so are my ten children. Let's dart out in front of the cars, kids, and see how many of us the driver will take out before being able to see us."
I'm coming down this residential street, and at the end of it are several businesses. Of course, these businesses have lines of people spilling out of them, waiting impatiently for their free piece of candy. Fine. But these parents look out across the road, see several cars approaching on both sides, grab their kids' hands and pull them out into the street. Where they stand. Still. Doing nothing. For no reason at all. Then, as we bottleneck to try to get around them, they look at us like we should not have dared to drive home from work at all.
Really people. Would you please use what few brains you have? You're going to cause your children to get hit by a car, and then you'll be screaming and crying about how awful drivers are. These are your kids. In dark costumes that can't easily be seen in the dark at night. Quit pulling them across roads in front of cars.
