Well I really did it this time, though I'm not sure how. Came darn close to breaking my leg, though.
Last night my family and I were getting ready to go to a friend's house for dinner (We forgot it was halloween, so we had to dodge the bajillion trick-or-treators on the street. Not a great night for driving.) Anyway, before we left I'm walking down the steps and boom, my leg just collapses. No trips, no warnings, nothing. It hurt a little, but not that bad. Then I wen't to work today, and it started hurting worse. When I got home, my foot had the huge lump sticking out of the side of it. It looked like a golf ball growing under my skin. Very gross, but I wish I'd gotten a picture.
One visit to the emergency room in Warranton later (never going to Culpeper Hospital again, after the way they misdiagnosed my brother's obviously broken arm last summer) and I come home with a fiberglass brace and a shiny new pair of crutches. Yay. This is about as close as I've ever gotten to a broken bone. Judging by the pain of just a sprain, I'm glad I haven't crossed that line yet.
I have to wear this for at least three days, then I go to my doctor and hopefully get a walking brace or get the whole thing taken off. (I'm hoping I can just get rid of it altogether.)
It should be an interesting next few days. And by interesting, I mean painful.
