Gaby stared down into the water, watching the muddy colored foam swirl with the lapping waves and the surge of garbage. He was riding out the tail end of a wicked trip and the dark waters and the silence of the dock soothed him. The fine layer of sweat on his skin glued his wild hair to his body, making him sticky. The thin body heaved as it wildly sucked in air. He had been running for an hour from red-eyed, bearded monsters with enormous grabbing hands. Gaby was good at running, he had been on the track team in high school.

Fortunately now, the monsters were gone and all he saw were colors in the darkness. A small shakey smile worked its way across his face. His blue eyes reflected blackness and bloodshot.
