This is a story about a ring.

We've been talking about this since we got out to Ithaca. I've held that I want to be old-fashioned and give her a ring to make things official. I'm not going to do anything anywhere near the "Two months Salary", and we discussed styles that she'd like, and I insisted that it cost at least $200 (insert feminist commentary here). We went to the mall and found out that EVERYTHING had a gemstone, which was off the list. We went to the Ithaca Commons and I found out really, silver is wicked cheap compared to gold. So I modified my "$200 minimum" down to something way more reasonable, and we got home, and we (really, she) looked online and found a square knot ("lover's knot") ring that she really liked. So, I ordered it, and waited very patiently, I think, for it to arrive. By which I mean checking the tracking on UPS' website every day.

So it came yesterday, and I emailed out to my potential D&D4e group that really, I had something more important to do. I took her out to (what we consider to be) a fancy restaurant and we ordered loaded fries and steak and once the steak was cleared away I pulled the ring out of my pocket. She knew it was there, but I liked to do the big reveal anyways, and I asked her to marry me.

And she said yes!
