New pairing?
I'm probably late to the game (again), but I've been re-watching Bones (the tv show) from season 1 all the way to season 4, I think? And before, I used to ship Bones/Booth. -gasp- yes, het. It's not that unheard of, but I already know it can't happen because resolving UST kills shows. It's a fact of life.
The thing is, I watched it from 4 and worked my way backwards and this new perspective has changed my opinion about that pairing. Sure, it's nice and it's just... easy, to want them to get together. The writers are probably hoping that you do root for them to get together.
But no, my eyes have been opened to the joys of Booth/Sweets. Yes, Seeley Booth and Lance Sweets slash. My slash goggles are almost permanently on, so I don't know why I didn't see it before, but damn. I ship it like the fucking Enterprise. So in terms of pairings, I would support Zack/Hogdins (obviously), Angela/Bones is a pretty good pairing as well, but Booth/Sweets is simply perfect.
The problem is, all the fics written about them... kinda suck. Maybe I'm finding the wrong ones, but they're so OOC that it's painful. Speech patterns, behaviors... of course I know that it's difficult to write in character, but by default, I give a certain latitude to those things and for these stories, I can't even bring myself to read through them.
I will continue my search though.
ETA: Season 5, Episode 15 totally killed whatever buzz I was on for this pairing. Doesn't stop the slash in my mind though. I completely saw that episode going a different direction.
