This past Saturday I finally did the Race Up Boston Place. For those of you who don't know (which is probably no one--because you are probably my LJ friend and chances are you raced with me) this was a race up 41 floors, 82 flights, 750 stairs up 1 Boston Place to raise money for the American Lung Association.
Or at least there was a race portion.
incontango and I opted to run, not race.
manley1,
kimmercake, and
doceydo opted ro walk. I'm sure all of us acheived some highbrid of the two, and I know I also relied on my arms to launch myself up a few flights via the railings.
Either way, we are stair masters and warriors all. I hope they post the results soon. We only saw Serp's and mine, which were about 8 minutes and 7 and a half minutes, respectively.
I was actually number 47 out of at least 300 (I think that 500 was the max). So, go me! I had NO expectations for my performance.
The race was such a rush, running, then walking, then just blacking out and going for the top, psyching myself up to keep on going. It was at once extremely difficult and not a big deal at all. My quads burned, but everything else felt great.
Along the way were random volunteers, some really encouraging, some a little emo and lip-ringed to really provide any sense of enthusiasm or motivation.
I am so glad I did this. Thank you Kim for mentioning it. Thank you Serpico, Kim, Mark, and Joanna for racing!! Our second event as a crew!!
Thank you to everyone who donated money on my behalf. Obviously, it felt great to be able to do something to raise money for a great cause. Personally, though, it was great to have the support of my friends in something that was important to me.
I plan on doing another race soon. If anyone wants to join us, I say the more the merrier!!

Little did I know I would need these pythons.
I forget what emotion I was going for but it came out as drunk.

No man or woman left behind. All back victorious!!
