My last couple of days have been nothing short of amazing. With the exception of the "bust" on Friday evening, I don't think anything could have been better.
Had an awesome time with Jeff and his friends on Friday evening.
On Saturday went to a kick-ass party at Hayley's and then to Ginn's co-op afterwards. Fun stuff, yo. Co-ops seem like really cool places to live. Maybe I'll look into joining one for junior year.
Sunday was the CCHA consolation game vs. NMU, which we fortunately won. It was also cool (and sort of weird) to see some of my old friends in the Northern band. Those poor people had one hell of a trip.
The Kirov Orchestra concert on Sunday night was stunning, no other way to put it. They played Shostakovich's 7th and 9th Symphonies, which were based around (I'm not familiar with his music so I don't know if this is the case with all of his symphonies) World War II. The 7th Symphony in particular was spectacular -- from the Nazi march-esque, tension-filled snare drumming to the lament of thirty unison violins to the grandiose brass finale, I was completely captivated. I've never been that deeply chilled by anything in my life.
Speaking of amazing, the second round of the NIT vs. Notre Dame was tonight in Crisler. After being consistently down about eight throughout the second half, the team pulled it together and tied it up. We ended up going into two nerve-racking overtimes, and it looked like there would be a third until Harris launched off a desperate last-second three pointer that somehow found its mark. It was such an intense game. Now if we win on Wednesday in the quarterfinals against Miami, we go to Madison Square Garden in NYC.
Everyone make sure to vote for Kenny Baker (MSA Independent) today or tomorrow.
