CANON...because I think characterization is just easier when he has the same memories as canon? Unless I'm reading wrong.

AU plz tyltyl June 18 2008, 01:25:28 UTC
AU because if there's if it were a canon RP then the characters might be too focus on how to get back to their own canon world.

Seconding this, I'm tired of characters just going "where am I" and "how do I go back home" because of their canon.

Plus AU is just fun. :B

Thirded because...yeah "WHERE AM I?" "I WANT TO GO HOME." it gets kind of tiring. Though I do agree that each individual character should stay true to their canon personality and (if possible) follow some of their key canon history.

I'm okay with either, but I think in AU you'd need a more character-intensive app to make sure they're going to do a good job with the character even with a different background.

abyss NOIR: *nodnodnod* Well, whichever way people go-- I'm thinking, based on our players, we allow the world (obviously) to be an AU one where the characters will need to adhere to its ways.
abyss NOIR: Kind of like moving to a new planet. Perhaps they can keep their powers too from their own worlds, but how do they apply these to a new world?
abyss NOIR: I'm sure whoever joins will be careful about going overboard too, since we have awesome player friends xD

And like, they HAVE to live there. They HAVE to make it their home. So... canon personalities, background-- but AU world that is also their new canon. Am I making sense?

As I said while you were/are washing the dishes, I think AU would be interesting to do since it really hasn't been done in a while. At least, not done and well, save a few exceptions.

I was in an RP called wystria where the characters were AU but were slowly learning of their canon selves.

I like both. If the canon can substantiate why the characters are there and if there's a plot, it's good enough for me.

...whatever it is, as long as there is plot, I like D:

I'm getting really bored of AUs, and would like a canon RP that lasts more than a week :/;;

Maybe they're told where there are upon entrance, so no WHERE AM I happens? iiiiiiiidk

I really liked the concept of sendoff 'cause it allowed for characters to remain their canon selves AND didn't have the really irritating and repetitive 'HOME NAO PLS'.

Other things like that would be spiffy.

I like games with the options of both.

For example - I have one character whom I RP that I could make AU, but it's easier for him to be canon as he has more traits I can pull from there. On the other hand, I have a character whom I think has a clear personality in the game he comes from, but doesn't actually talk, so it's nice to have the AU option.

I like playing AU more than canon, because canon is obviously headed somewhere in terms of the author's intentions for the series, and that's not where the fun of rping is for me. Then again, I wouldn't argue against AU characters jumping into an already established canon.
