To die with honor is a grand accomplishment for the warrior or the entire folk for that matter. In ancient times, a violent death was the most honorable way to transcend towards the Asgardhr's realm. To die in battle or in a dual for a noble cause. To perish by disease or old age was not considered acceptable for the warrior. So did the act of killing as well was a honorable act in itself, that is , if death was given also in a honorable manner. A loyal combat between two foes who respected each other as warriors was not viewed as a senseless murder by the hand of the victorious one. Death was given by a worthy adversary fighting fallowing the warrior's code of honor. Therefore, death was not a shameful consequence of a shameful murder.
