Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Title: See below
Disclaimer: Bleach doesn't belong to me... I just borrow the characters for my muse to play with.
Rating: PG-13
Warning/Info: Some sweetness.
Pairing: See below. Includes ByaRen, KenShuu, IchiHitsu.
A/N: Thanks again for the prompts! I'm spending my winter holidays over at
ichibanseiken's (she and her family have been really awesome and wonderful) and we've been having a fun time and interesting discussions on writing. I hope you enjoy what the muse created, though I'm not sure if everything fits as expected. I was kinda lazy/ran out of time, so the two prompts that the muse had way longer story ideas for will not be appearing this time (one of
ichibanseiken and one of
sardonicista). XD They'll hopefully appear for Christmas next year with anything else I might write. As for the rest, expect a post on New Year's Eve/Day. Drabble specific author notes below each drabble under the cut. Enjoy~
Skating
Toushirou had difficulty keeping a smirk from his face at the sight of the usually cool, sporty and multi-talented Ichigo flailing on the ice as he struggled to keep his balance, coupled with those amusing unconscious expressions.
‘Finally… something that he can’t best me at.’
“Toshi, I need some help over here… please?”
Skating over, Toushirou asked, “What should you be calling me?”
“Please teach me how to skate, Hitsugaya… sensei.”
As his outstretched hand met and was grasped by Ichigo’s larger one, Ichigo’s initial mischievous grin turned into a sincere smile, one that spoke of better things to come.
A/N: For
ichibanseiken's prompt - "Skating; IchiHitsu. Ichigo is a bit of a klutz and Hitsuyaga is torn between gloating at FINALLY being better at something, and sympathy for his hot friend."
Holiday Decorations
“Abarai-fukutaicho. What is the meaning of this?”
“Taicho. You said to decorate for the holidays. The tree is about six stories tall and because we’re decorating it with all these,” Renji gestured to the shiny ornaments around him, “The members are using it to train their shunpo and the winners will get to put up some of the better ornaments eventually. Of course, we’ll be putting on the star. Also, we had enough left over to get the kadomatsu too.”
“Renji… It’s fine, go ahead.”
Byakuya sighed. It looked like they would be celebrating Christmas as well from now on.
A/N: For
sardonicista's prompt - "When I asked you to decorate, this was not what I had in mind." [ByaRen] Kadomatsu are traditional Japanese New Year's decorations, three shoots of bamboo with pine and flowers bound in straw.
Unexpected Motivations
“You know, you didn’t have to volunteer to be a chaperone for the party.”
“Why not? I’m on vacation anyway and I’d get to see you all dressed up and looking awesome. Or is there something else you’re worried about?”
Toushirou fought off a blush, “No, there isn’t.”
“… Are you worried that someone might accidentally fall for me?”
He blushed, “No, I don’t get jealous that easily.”
Ichigo smiled. “It’s fine. If anything, we get to have some alone time while we’re travelling and maybe we could make a short stop on the way back.”
Toushirou smiled in response.
A/N: For
sardonicista's prompt - "Chaperoning; just because they couldn't get out of it didn't mean nothing good would come of it." [Probably IchiHitsu] It was a little difficult to write this since thinking of a situation that chaperones were needed were hard for me. The setting here has Ichigo as a junior in college and Toushirou as a young high school senior (skipped two grades) in an AU setting. It's an interesting setting that I might use for a fic later...
Presents
One present appeared on their dressing table one night, and the other, two days later. Both were elegantly wrapped and they sat in a pair together, waiting to be opened.
Renji left the night before the eve, out on a mission. The next morning, Byakuya stroked the wrapped presents briefly before he left for his office. He had dinner alone and it was only very much later when Renji slipped into their futon, falling asleep at once, exhausted.
The unopened presents waited for the next morning, knowing that all was well, with both of them safe and soundly asleep together.
A/N: For
rii_no_ame's prompt - unopened gifts, ByaRen. I hope this fits the bill. I seem to have adopted a little of your 'bittersweet' style for your prompts.
Christmas Eve
They met for dinner in a nice French restaurant, enjoying the delicious food in the warm candlelight with instrumental versions of popular Christmas songs playing in the background.
Following which, they walked back to their office, admiring the gold and silver lights along the streets while continuing with their work talk. It was only several hours later when they were done with the following day’s newspaper and caught the last train home.
The light from the small decorated plastic tree on their table illuminated the room as they embraced and kissed before exchanging gifts.
“Merry Christmas, Kensei.”
“Merry Christmas, Shuuhei.”
A/N: For
owned_by_a_cat's prompt - lights and music, KenShuu. This is how I picture them celebrating Christmas in Japan now, where Christmas Day is a work day and celebrating Christmas is more of a thing for couples than families. Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence is one of the more well known original Japanese Christmas songs which I would imagine them playing. Coincidentally, it's from the soundtrack of a movie by the same name, which sounds interesting though I haven't watched it.
Hatsuyuki
On opening the shoji, they were greeted by a blanket of white that covered their small garden and all the rooftops in the distance.
“Look, Kensei.”
Stepping onto the roka, Kensei watched as Shuuhei sank his feet into the pristine snow and turned back to him with a brilliant smile so innocent, it was as though his Lieutenant had turned back into a carefree brat.
He watched for a while as Shuuhei bent down and made a snowball before playing around with it with a grin, before walking over and ruffling his hair.
“It’s time to start work. Let’s go.”
A/N: For
owned_by_a_cat's prompt - first snow and all that entails, KenShuu. Hatsuyuki means first snow, shoji are the sliding doors between the roka and the rooms or in between rooms and roka is the corridor/passageway outside the rooms in traditional Japanese houses.
