Zechs' face, as it had been when the Kaitou Kid collected him, was like stone. More emotionless than the appearances he had put upon as a soldier. No, for all the Kid may be able to tell, Zechs Marquise seemed to be a complete unfeeling bastard.
In truth, he was about three breaths away from panic. The words injury, blood loss and collapse kept running through his mind like lashing rain in a storm. If he hadn't had an armful of supposed magic potions - his cynical mind could try to reason out how they worked later - he'd have half of the Martian Station's medical technicians with him now, and damn the consequences. But for now, it seemed he had the tools and the ability to help Tyki, and he trusted himself to work faster than anyone else.
Kneeling at Tyki's side - not acknowledging the twinge from his bad knee - set the potions and bandages down quickly and carefully and began to strip the Noah's jacket from his back. His eyes flicked over to the so-called "Phantom Thief."
"A hand, if you will?" he asked in a cool voice. His lover was bleeding out. He'd need to staunch the bleeding as he attempted to pour the ... potion ... on the wounds.
Vaguely aware that he was no longer alone, Tyki stirred. He shifted, aware that he was laying face down, and that he felt very dizzy and strange, like a veil had been drawn between himself and the world.
That must have been a hell of a bender. I don't remember it, and I'm still drunk, he thought.
He opened his eyes and saw blond hair in his field of vision. "Zechs..." he purred. He tried to reach for his lover, but his hand only twitched.
Zechs registered how the clothes seemed to be literally formed around the feathers which had caused the wounds, and almost cursed. Instead, his features merely tightened. He wanted to get the shirt off as well, but wasn't certain it was possible.
Grabbing one of the bottles - according to the directions, it called to pour over the wound or have the subject ingest it - he uncorked it and placed it near easy reach. He nodded curtly to Kid. "I fear the wounds may heal around them if we do not remove the feathers. Before, they kept Tyki from dying before we could return to him. Now, they must go."
His face softened slightly - showing a moment of concern and anguish - as Tyki regained consciousness. Then his expression went blank once more.
He considered, then grabbed the closest feather with one hand, and held the open X-Potion with another. Not quite in the tone of command, but close to it, he said icily, "When I pull out the feather and pour the potion upon the wound, staunch the bleeding with the bandage, quickly. He will bleed profusely as I remove each feather, and I do not wish to test how quickly this magic mends his wounds."
Softly, he said, "Tyki. Please do not move."
With a swift motion, he pulled out a feather, and immediately poured a fair amount of the iridescent potion upon the wound. Tyki bled rather quickly.
Tyki screamed as the feather was ripped from his skin. It didn't help that his body had already begun to try to heal the wounds with his own enhanced healing ability - after all, it wasn't as though the feathers were Innocence - so pulling them from his body tore at the newly-formed tissue and ripped it open again.
His fingers scrabbled against the carpet and he flinched away. "No...please. Duke, please."
It was hard for Zechs to maintain his countenance with that, but he did try. However, a good deal of concern did show onto his expression as he reached down to grasp one shoulder, gently. Internally, Zechs felt as if he had been stabbed. With a firmer voice, though gentle, and with a good deal of forced calm, he said, "Tyki. I am here. We ... we are attempting to help."
Unfortunately, between comforting Tyki and letting him bleed to death, there was little choice. Bracing himself inwardly each time for the reaction from Tyki, Zechs methodically began to pull out feathers and apply potion. He only hoped the Noah would be able to forgive him later for the pain.
After that first scream, Tyki was quieter, flinching and whimpering as each feather was pulled from his body and clenching his fists so hard that his nails cut small semi-circles in his palms.
He passed out again after the first couple, in fact, and lay quiescent for a while before the pain caused him to stir once more.
Under the first bandage Kid had applied, his skin was already smooth and unbroken, thanks to a combination of his own healing power and the magic of the x-potions.
Finally the last one had been removed, and Tyki lay still, gasping for breath and trembling.
The Kaitou Kid was an unknown quandary to Zechs. About all he knew was he called himself "the Phantom Thief", Hakuba the detective was from his world, and he likely was another member of the community under an assumed alias. He didn't know if he or his alter ego was friends with other Noah, or disliked Tyki, or generally had a big mouth and couldn't keep secrets.
Yet, why have such a mysterious alter ego if you couldn't keep secrets?
It was for this reason Zechs didn't hesitate to pull Tyki into his arms once they were finished, running his hands down Tyki's arms to attempt to sooth the trembling. His face was still mostly expressionless, now, but for a faint trace of concern.
Softly, with a very sincere tone, he said to the Kid, "You have my deepest gratitude for your speedy and timely assistance, Kaitou Kid." He hesitated, then added, "I would appreciate your discretion in this matter. I doubt Tyki would appreciate his enemies learning he could be made quite so vulnerable."
Hopefully, the Kid would get the hint that the close friendship between the men was to be kept from the public knowledge as well.
Tyki stirred as he was pulled into Zechs' arms. He inhaled and smelled Zechs' scent, along with the sharp iron tang of blood, and it soothed him. He was already healing at a rapid rate, and the x-potion running through his veins was starting to revitalize him, though it would take time before he recovered.
He heard Kid's words as he opened his eyes. He wrapped his arms around Zechs, but turned his head to look up at the boy.
"Not...your fault," he murmured. Then he shifted to look up at his lover. "Zechs...Dark attacked me. I was stupid...wasn't expecting him so soon. Not...too mad at him, though."
Zechs shook his head, agreeing with Tyki, and tightened his arms around the Noah. His face was beginning to soften into something less icy, and merely an expression best described as aristocratic or arrogant. Firmly, he assured the boy, "It is certainly not your fault. As you have mentioned, my associate was not even supposed to be here to begin with."
Was that a mild reprimand? Regardless, Zechs bowed his head as a token of respect to the Phantom Thief. "In that event, you also have my thanks for your silence upon this matter. We will leave as soon as we are able."
In a quieter tone, he asked the Noah, "... Are you safely able to move, Tyki?"
Tyki nodded, though he turned and buried his face against Zechs' shoulder. "I'll be okay," he assured them both earnestly. "Just...don't ask me to walk too far."
He had so many questions, like how Kid had come to bring Zechs here. Had their secret already been broken? Or had Tyki asked Kid to bring Zechs here? He couldn't remember if he'd mentioned it or not. Everything from when Dark had come to now was a bit blurry.
Considering the Kid's offer and Tyki's words - if the man couldn't even stubbornly claim he could walk far, he must be exhausted - Zechs gently cradled his lover against him. Using the Noah's method of travel, the Ark and the paths within, required perhaps more vertical movement than he was capable of.
Looking rather grateful, he asked the Kid, "Could you return us to a different place within the world you had brought me from?"
He rattled off an address in Germany, and added, "The master suite in the northwest wing."
Zechs then hesitated, still worried for Tyki. "Will it be necessary for Tyki to stand?"
