Tyki listened, annoyed that he couldn't see Rufus' expression. He rose from his chair as Rufus was speaking, walking straight through the desk so that he would come up behind Rufus directly, from an angle the blond wouldn't be expecting. Of course, he didn't make a sound on the carpet, walking on a thin surface of air just above it.
"Thank the planet?" he questioned, now standing right behind Rufus, well within his personal space.
Tyki gazed at the bandages and wondered at them, curious if Rufus was injured. He didn't move like he was injured, but if he wasn't, then what were those bandages covering?
Rufus hadn't reacted much to his proximity, but he did see the little gesture with his hand. Well, that was fine.
Tyki glanced down at him, seeing that Rufus was only now realizing how close he was. He didn't loom, precisely, but he didn't back away either. "Your planet has a consciousness?" he asked. "A...soul of its own?"
What would the Duke do with that? Anyone but Tyki might have shuddered to think about it.
He moved to stand next to Rufus, looking out the window without touching it. "I think I'm beginning to understand," he said. "So you didn't destroy the planet intentionally, and yours was really only the first domino to fall."
He glanced at Rufus sidelong. "Why does that being want to kill the planet, and those of other worlds? And what is it called?"
Tyki glanced at Rufus askance, measuring him with his eyes. "I see," he said. There wasn't anything in Rufus' manner that indicated he could be pushed or prodded into revealing more information. He was a little like Zechs in his manner and his experience with politics, but less vulnerable.
And in so many ways nothing like Zechs. Nothing.
He drew out a pocket watch and checked the time thoughtfully. "Half an hour, you said? Perhaps you could tell me about your cannon." They were still a few minutes shy of 30 minutes, and while Tyki didn't actually care, it was an excuse to needle Rufus just a bit longer.
"Impatient, aren't we? Meeting someone, and you don't want her to see you alone in the office with someone else?" Tyki glanced at him with a smirk, considering whether or not he wanted to stay. The truth was, he'd done what he set out to do, and he could always come back.
"I'll give you your time to finish up and get ready," he said, waving a hand dismissively as he stepped around Rufus, headed for the spot on the wall where he'd hidden the portal back to the Ark. Suddenly the cigarette was back in his hand, a bit burned down and battered, but still lit, and he stuck it between his lips.
"Perhaps I'll come visit you again sometime, after the cannon unveiling."

Not a chance.
And he walked through the wall of Rufus' office, leaving nothing behind but a cloud of tobacco smoke.
