Tyki glanced down at the panther curiously and ignored the shotgun utterly. Oh yes, someone told me he had a panther, he thought to himself. He'd momentarily forgotten.

Not that it mattered.

"Now how is this a way to greet an invited guest?" he said carelessly, dropping a hand towards the panther's head to allow it to sniff. If it bit, it would find nothing but air. "Are you planning on shooting me and decorating your pretty wall with spatter?"

The panther sniffed in confusion, unable to actually detect the person its eyes could see. Tyki straightened and stepped around it, moving slowly towards Rufus. His hands were visible, but not held up. He held a cigarette in one hand, and with a flick of his fingers a match appeared in the other, and was popped alight with his thumbnail.

If Rufus fired, that would probably bring people running. So he didn't want to push him too far. He stopped after only a few steps, placed the cigarette between his lips and pulled a drag.

"I'm Tyki," he said, a little slower, as if Rufus were a bit dim. "You said if I had questions, I should come ask you. That's an invitation, in my books."

Tyki raised an eyebrow and removed the cigarette from between his lips.

He was standing in the middle of the floor, far from any convenient furniture. "Then what do you want me to do with it?" he asked, his lips quirking with amusement. "Since you're the one threatening me with the gun, you're calling the shots, Rufus."

Tyki smirked. "How about if I do a magic trick instead," he said, and turned his hand over. When he held his palm up again, his cigarette was gone.

The teases were a little agitated at the addition of a burning object to their home, but they settled down quickly.

He moved again, headed obviously for the chair opposite Rufus at his obnoxiously huge desk. "Thirty minutes, hmm? That's not a terribly long time. If my curiosity isn't settled, I might have to come back." His expression, as well as his tone, were teasing. He didn't care if Rufus was overly serious about everything - that didn't mean Tyki had to be.

Tyki sank down into the chair, running his fingers curiously over the metal and glass surface of the desk as he leaned forward. "You're not a simple man, Rufus," he said. "Though there was a person in my post who tried to convince me that you were nothing but a simpleton."

He watched Rufus pretending to ignore him. "I think you're about as complex as I am. Do you think I show up at the doorsteps of people who are simple?" He waved a hand. "You elicit a lot of strong reaction. It's interesting. Like poking a box of rats and watching them all squeak."

Tyki smiled, too wide. This man was dangerous. Maybe not as dangerous as he thought he was, but dangerous enough.

"You know," he said softly. "It's a funny thing about talking on this internet. Because one uses text, the little...nuances don't come through. Through text, you're an irritating asshole."

The smile widened, just a little bit more. Did human mouths stretch that wide? "In person, I like you."

He leaned forward, fingers planted on the desk like tripods. "Tell me, Rufus. Did you really destroy this world?"

Tyki resumed his own seat. He noticed that Rufus had ignored his phone and considered that a good sign. If Rufus really wasn't interested in this conversation, there were any number of things he might have done, and he hadn't done any of them.

"People are afraid of the truth. It makes them uncomfortable," Tyki said. "You seem to like making people uncomfortable. Or maybe you believe that you're different, and aren't afraid of the truth."

He grinned, though it was a more normal sort of expression this time. "Why are you bothering with rebuilding the planet, if you destroyed it in the first place?"
