Zechs knew it was a virus, because that was the only reasonable explanation. He had realized it as soon as Tyki called forth the butterflies and called them Innocence. He'd observed it throughout the evening, affecting other individuals, but due to the virus' nature, hadn't realized what was going on. Just hours before, he had been in the grip of its power - the cold logic and malice not unlike ZERO, except with more malicious intent. And it had been so easy to fall prey to it. Zechs began to shake.
He hadn't been sadistic, but rather cold, and merciless. He purposefully sought out people to kill to appease his inner anger. His pride and egotism became a living, breathing thing, making himself believe he was infallible and above humanity. The power, so like ZERO, had hit his mind like a drug.
Not able to stop his trembling, Zechs closed his eyes, unable to even look at his hands. His voice still hoarse, he asked pleadingly, "How do you fight it? How can you manage to separate the two? Where do you find the strength?"
He wanted to be sick at the things he wanted to do.
