[ Exhaling softly as she listens to the brief audio transmission, Valeria takes a brief moment to collect herself. That the voice coming from her communicator belongs to a child is honestly surprising as it is rare that children are brought to Demeleier; and yet, there's no denying that that is indeed the voice of a child, one who is probably confused and well on the way to being upset and frightened as a result of the abrupt change in surroundings and the lack of familiarity. Frowning at that thought, she reaches for her communicator and moves to activate the feed, pausing just long enough to opt for audio or video. She doesn't want to scare the girl with her scars, after all. ]

It's... not exactly a game. More importantly, though, are you alright?

[oh hold the phone! this voice sounds a little different, but after spending so much time together in world's end, luki would still recognize it anywhere.]

Big Sis Val? Is that you?!

[aaand she bursts into loud sobs again. n_n]

Uwahh!! That - mean big bro s-said - you went home!

[ Blinking rapidly at the girl's bursting into loud sobs and even more so at having been called definitely by name, she opens her mouth and closes again with the unspoken question of what? How did this girl know her name? She doesn't recognize the girl's voice. She couldn't call her by name if her life depended on it; and yet, this girl knows her by name? How is that even possible? Unless -- and her brows rise with the thought -- unless this girl is like Aaron, who had known her or someone like her in another world. That thought has her swallowing dryly. ]

Y-yeah, it's me. [ Isn't it? She had never felt entirely certain with that boy given that he'd had memories with her that she didn't share. ] I haven't gone anywhere, but I -- [ I don't know who you are'? 'I'm not the me you think I am'? What does she even say to this little girl? Was she -- was that person really that important to her, to be called 'Big Sis'? She can feel her heartstrings being tugged with every sob and her words aren't coming easily. This girl is counting on her

[AUDIO] all the sobs ;~;

[her sobbing dwindles to a quiet sniffling.]

You don't ... remember Luki? And Noki? But we were good girls ...

[AUDIO] all of them... and none of the deleted tags, too. ;w;

A-and I never said you weren't! It's just -- [ She furrows her brows unseen, pausing briefly in an attempt to find her words and some resolution. Regardless of her lack of memories of time shared with this girl, she is counting on her now and the realization stands in the face of her mixed emotions. She speaks softly, her words growing in certainty as she utters them. ] It's just that there's a lot that I don't remember. It's not just Luki and Noki, but... I'm still me and I'm here.

[ That's right. She is herself and she is here and she would never leave any child depending on her to fend for herself under these circumstances. Even if this girl hadn't been depending on her, to leave a child alone in Demeleier is unthinkable, so she steels herself that much more and thinks fast. A door can be heard opening in the background now. She's on the move. ]

You'll help me remember, won't you? I can't do it by myself, so I need Luki to be strong for me and help me remember, okay?

[AUDIO] n__n

Luki ... Luki can do that. [a quick sniffle, and the she sounds forcibly perked up.] Yeah, Luki can do that for Big Sis Val! Uweh, did those people who were picking on the sun pick on you too? Is that why Big Sis Val doesn't remember?

[AUDIO] EVERYTHING IS THE SUN'S FAULT n__n

Eh? [ She is officially blinking off screen because... just what? ] People were... picking on the sun? When did this happen?

Um ... lots of times! [matter-of-fact:] The sun is a pansy.

[ And that? That makes her laugh, though she isn't entirely sure why. Maybe it's the way Luki says it or maybe it's the imagery that goes with her words or maybe, just maybe, it's some fatally hilarious combination of both. Either way, though, she's laughing and it's... an open sort of laughter, sincere and not at all forced. ]

Yeah, I'll bet! [ And she breathes. ] Those people aren't here, though, so Luki doesn't have to worry about the sun and me losing our memory again, okay?

[AUDIO]

Ooooookay ...

But what if they come back? What if ...

[no it's too horrible to even say it ;~; she trails off.]

[ Oh wow, her heartstrings -- this kid is really good at tugging them and Valeria is ninety-nine point nine percent sure that she isn't even trying. She doesn't let it seep into her voice, though, and her tone carries a decisiveness, a definite certainty about it. Disputable? No way. ]

If they come back, I'll be ready for them. It's as simple as that. I won't allow anyone to take away our memories, so you don't have to worry about it.

[ And she's pausing in her tracks, turning her eyes about despite that Luki can't see it. She's almost to the Temple now, but she'd better double check the girl's location. Just to be sure. ]
