Currently I sit in a hotel room in Nova Scotia Canada.
¿Por que?

Well, I'm taking a SPRAT and IRATA rope access training/certification course. It started Monday and ends Saturday. With Saturday being test day. I'm terribly nervous about the testing.

However, it has been a blast. Stressful because I really do want to take and pass those tests, and fun! I love doing things such as these and learning. I have no idea how the hell I can apply any of this knowledge to my current job because of so many confounding factors, but I want to try.
The amount of gear is mind-boggling. Right now, as a level 1 trainee, I am kitted with: a full body harness, a back up device, a second back up device, an ascender at my chest (called a chest ascender), a hand ascender (you use it with your hand), a descender, a cowtail (it's a rope with a carabiner attached at one end and the other end is attached to the harness), two back up carabiners, a soft foot ladder. That's just the bare minimum.

I'll update later as I need to leave for class, here's hoping I remember to come back here to document my tale.
