well, I'm not trying to claim that this is a good system, I'm just trying to explain- everyone is all "why are people in Illinois so dumb, they elected this guy twice" and I'm trying to explain, we know he was corrupt and in general we didn't give a shit, this is why. Y'know?

I dunno, even knowing they were corrupt? I feel like most of the examples are like, of Nixon and whatever when no-one thought he had any problems until it came out that he did. Am I missing a president?

The problem with Bush is that people weren't just voting for Bush, they were voting for Cheney too.

And anyone who doesn't believe that Cheney is as corrupt as it is possible to be and still be human are clearly too dumb to live.

well, I don't think it's hard to argue that Americans are often too dumb to live. My dad was a huge Bush supporter and he didn't think Cheney was corrupt either- if he had, he wouldn't have voted for them.
