John,
We have a problem in LA with one of the shipments delivering today- they say they don’t have room for the freight and say he needed to deliver the load to somewhere in Oklahoma. I’m speaking to a gentleman in receiving out there, and he says they don’t have room for the freight, and that it was not scheduled to deliver until September. I spoke to a woman named Barbara in their purchasing department, and she has confirmed that they are not scheduled to receive it until September. I assume that whoever took the order just plain messed it up. Give me a call as soon as you can.
Eric
I get a call roughly 30 seconds later.
John: "What do you MEAN September?"
Me: "I'm just the messenger."
John: "And they want to send it WHERE?"
Me: "Oklahoma."
John: *cursing under his breath* "Alright, let me make some calls."
So as it stands, I have a carrier in California with freight apparently bound for Oklahoma. Difficulty: we're now at the carrier's mercy as far as payment for delivering said load to Oklahoma from California. I'm banking that we're looking at around $4/$5 per mile to head it back over there. A great Friday the 13th in the making.
