So, internet access has been minimal. My mobile has been the best access but replying to emails using it's tiny keyboard (not an iClone) is a pain and Vodafone only covers larger cities. At last we're in Broome after crisscrossing the countryside cutting a giant Z (Zorro would be proud) across our map of Australia.
So after leaving Sydney we stopped in Kandos for 5 days whilst our mate Jamie did some repair work. Not really necessary but the van is schmick now. Then to the Warrumbungles, Radburne War (Dubbo), Cobar, Broken Hill, Ororoo (my fave small town), Wilpena Pound in the Flinders Ranges, Parachilna (best feral grill ever), Port Augusta (happy never to visit again), Coober Pedy (yes I bought an opal ring - aqua - gorgeous), out to William Creek which gets the vote as 2nd wierdest location so far. More underwear stapled to the roof and ceiling than your average lingerie shop would keep in stock. From there we flew out over Lake Eyre which did still have water and some birds. At sunset. Made the whole trip worthwhile.
Then to Alice via The Rock (Uluru) and the Olgas (Kata Tjuta). Night markets, many experiences out west. Helicopter over Ormiston and Glen Helen Gorges. An airconditioned ride. Loved it. glad I'm not scared of heights though!
Wycliffe wells that is The strangest place so far. They claim aliens land there. Regularly. So that meant they could stick lots of sculptures around the place and props and giant polka dot pigs, and Elvis.
Katherine, Darwin (too humid for this bod. Kakadu for an amazing thunderstorm that rolled in, Howard Springs and then out into the Rum Jungle at Batchelor. It's really called that. It's also called Litchfield National Park and was the 2nd set of springs, waterholes we swam in.
Back to Katherine and then west across the Savanna Way to Kununurra, Fitzroy Crossing and now Broome. Which I love. About to run out of time so adios amigos!
No photos to post as yet. Way too many. We estimate around 3000 between us which is what happens when you put the two of us into planes and helicopters. We go nuts with the snaphappyness. I'd done a presort but then we flew out of Kununurra over Lake Argyle (considered an inland sea for navigation purposes coz it's frikkin huge!), several other mountain ranges and then the Bungle Bungles which are awesome. Truly. They're also orange and dark grey tiger stripes and did I say they're awesome yet?
Love,
Tig
