To the stars ...
The weather is threatening to interfere in the planned launch of the space shuttle, which is expected in just about 4 hours or so. I hope they're able to launch .. it's such a big deal for the USA, to be able to return to the stars, to the space program. I've been watching MSNBC .. which I never do ... occasionally, trying to keep up with the progress. About now, the astronauts are getting suited up.
I remember being young when Christa MacAuliffe was going up in the Challenger shuttle with the astronauts, how big a deal that was for our area. She was a teacher from NH, you see, and being that I grew up in NH, it was so huge to us. I was in 6th grade, which was junior high for us .. and we were watching the launch live on TV's in every classroom. I think that shuttle disaster is for me what JFK's assaination is for my mother's generation. I remember it vividly .. the events of that entire day are burned into my memories. The arguments had with classmates over what actually happened .. one of them (Winston ... who was from the South, ironically) wanted to argue with me that an icicle pierced the fuel tank. Moron.
Switching to Hell's Kitchen for a while. It's such a train wreck, I've got to watch it. I'm pulling for Elsie - the Mexican Mama. *grins* She's so cute!!
And no, my computer's not back. I'm still waiting .. I think I might call them tomorrow .. it's been only a week I know since it was sent off, as they said it would have been on the truck to atlanta on Thursday of last week. But they might know if they're going to fix it, or if they'll just replace it with a brand new system. Either way, I still have to replace everything I had on that system .. including email addresses, phone numbers and addresses for my family. I'm gonna see if my sister can get most of them for me. But anyone from here whose address I had .. would you please email me, so I can recompile my address book. Again. Sheesh. Such a hassle. I need to get a zipdrive and keep certain things backed up.
I had a very strange dream. I had had an operations, and came out of it with an incision from my chest down my abdomen .. it was left a little open over my abdomen I think. I also had another incision along my right thigh. I think I might have been in an accident .. though another thought from the dream is that I'd had some sort of gastric bypass surgery as well. Wierd. Jason was taking good care of me though.
