It's funny the preconceived notions we have about ourselves and our abilities to do things. I spent a major part of yesterday helping out a friend (who shall heretofore be known as "E") move out of her old place to her new.
E has a lot of heavy furniture. To be fair, it really is an average amount. But I have a lot of bruises, so fairness may not come into play as much here. Looking back, some of it is almost funny. Like when five people were trying to navigate an enormous fridge through the wood in the dark, through a path that went both uphill and later downhill. Why? Because it wouldn't fit in the front entrance and had to be taken out the back way. Through the woods, up and downhill...
At one point, being crushed between that fridge and a tree seemed a distinct possibility.
I may have nightmares.
I also found out how easy it was to take the front door off it's hinges. Wasn't part of the original plan; that happened when we finally navigated a piece to the point where it got stuck there first. Disturbingly easy.
What I learned:
Minimalism may be a way of life I should pursue.
Zennifying my life would help out in the long run.
Movers can never be paid too much.
Who needs a fridge?
Be careful of where you put your elbows...E probably has a black eye courtesy of my mine.
