Friday Night Shenanigans

Apr 06, 2008 21:02

Well my weekend started off good but the night ended up not quite as I expected! Was feeling a bit run-down at work and left early, so got to rest up a little bit before my night out. Had plans that I didn't want to miss to go with Erica & raven_makah to a Happy Hour Meetup in the city (Which Rick said he'd be going to). Met up at raven_makah's place and we had dinner & wine before heading out. The bar Doc's Clock is the Mission Dist. which is very close by so got a $6 cab ride there (will be a good plan for future too.. no parking/driving hassles & cheaper!). Was full when we got there and I ran into Rick right away. We all chatted for a bit, but my girlies were nice enough to leave us on our own for most the night. ;) Although wasn't really one on one since other people would come up to chat, ah well. Was still a good time and was fun to flirt. Around 11p my girls decided to take off but I decided to hang out a bit longer since I was still in the groove of things. Pretty soon after part of the group (Rick, Jennifer & Keith) talked about looking for something to eat so we went out in search of something. Nothing really open though, so Keith decided to take off at that point. I offered Rick & Jennifer a ride back to the BART station they were at and find someplace to eat. Ended up at TGI Fridays where it was quite bustling at almost midnight (I know I did in my younger days, heh), and chowed down some greasy appetizers. After I dropped them at the Millbrae BART parking lot and said our goodbyes. Got a hug, kiss on the cheek & wink from Rick, but that was about it. Not much pursuing another meeting beyond that.. just see ya later. Ok! So anyway, i'm tired and looking forward to getting home.. and then the not fun 2nd half of my night happens..

No car accidents, don't worry.. ;) I did get home safely to my carport, but as I shut off my car and reach for my purse, I discover that there is NO purse sitting in the front seat. It's in fact nowhere to be found in my car.. just *gone*. So after a minute of disbelief, I have to come to terms with the fact that I have no keys, no cellie, no money, no ID. :| Plus the fact that I was way too low on gas to drive back to where I came from to look there myself, so I only had a couple of options. My folks were a 2nd option for me since I really didn't want to bother them at 1:30a, plus explain what happened. Most of friends either were dead asleep, had kids or lived too far away. The one exception were Dan & Lora who lived 10-15 min away and were *always* up late, especially on a weekend. Was just hoping they were out somewhere else. So that's where I headed and yep.. they were up entertaining a couple of friends in their outside patio area. Score! So I explained the situation and Lora was nice enough to offer driving me back to the BART lot to see if it was there. Not too many cars were left and we couldn't see anything in that area I was so we just turned back. I didn't think til later to check the restaurant I was at, but I was pretty certain I had it with me then. My one thought was that Rick had grabbed it with his backpack since I was pretty sure I sat it on top of it, and after he got out it either dropped or he realized it too late before I drove off. If that was the case he had no way to let me know since I had no phone to call me (or my # even if I did!). So of course i'm hoping this wasn't a possible 'intentional' thing, but I really didn't feel that. The only thing I could do was send him an email (I at least had that!) to reply back to me if he had it and/or call Dan or Lora's phone. I also texted my cell from their phone with a message saying to call it's owner at thier number. I had tried calling my phone earlier, and at first it rang with no answer then later it was shut off, so someone had to have had it. That was all I could do at that point, and they set me up for the night on their couch. What kinda sucked was I didn't have anything proper to store my contacts in (Lora & I tried to find a place open that would sell solution, but no luck.. even Safeway was closed!). So I had to settle for putting them in little glasses of water. Then i warned Dan not to drink my 'eyes' in the middle of the night. Got a good laugh out of that one.. see, I still had my sense of humor. ;) I told him he'd be stuck with me if so since I couldn't drive home and he said he'll just make me his blind maid.. *nice*. Before totally calling it a night he wanted to 'lighten the mood' and threw on a South Park ep on his pc. It was almost 4a at this point.. told ya they were late birds. Then it was just me and their two cats trying to get to sleep. Took me awhile with lost purse thoughts on my mind and my stomach deciding to feel queasy from a combo of previous alchohol, greasy cheesburger, and stress. :\ Didn't get sick thankfully and eventually got a few zzz's.

Woke up about 8:30 and checked my email.. no reply, hrm. Went back to sleep and got woken up a couple of hours later by a sleepy Dan to tell me Rick was on his cellie for me. Finally!! However, it was to tell me that he didn't have my purse (had checked his backpack & car) and was very surprised & sorry to read my email. *Damn*.. there went that possibility. I was so sure that was the case and soon as I heard from him that he'd just bring it to me. So I thanked him anyway and he gave me his cell # to let him know if anything comes up. Not how I wanted to get it, but hey ok. Now that that option was gone, I pretty much was facing the fact that it was most likely gone and i'd had to deal with the pain that is cancelling cc cards, replacing keys, dealing with DMV, new phone.. oh and I did I mention I also had my camera and Ipod in there?? Yep.. a literal goodie-bag just for the takin. I called the restaurant but they had no sign of it, and I also reported it at the BART online site. Had lots to do so I got dressed, put in my uncomfortable contacts and thanked Lora profusely as she gave me a little breakfast for all her and Dan's goodwill and help. She even gave me some money to fill up my gas tank so I could get my ass to my folks. Wasn't looking forward to telling them what went down, but had no other choice since they have the extra set of keys to my place. :P They were sorry of course and helped out as well by giving me their cell to use for the moment. I headed on home and was ready to start the whole cancellation process, but saw I had two new messages on my home phone so checked that first. Both just happened to be from Lora to inform me that a girl named Kristin had found my purse last night and contacted her!! It was totally intact too.. I couldn't believe my freakin luck! She had read our text message just this morning and left Lora her cell # for me to call and could meet me nearby. So I called her and she was only a few minutes away from me right then so we arranged to meet at the local mall Starbucks here. She was a very nice young blonde girl and she explained that she found it with a friend at the BART parking lot after the last train of the night out there. Was just lying there on the ground in plain view she says, so i'm guessing when Lora and I went out there to look she had already found it and taken it. Lucky for me it was her and not some greedy person. Besides the goodies in there, it looks like a designer Coach purse (although it's faux), but they don't know that. She was very sweet and told me the same thing happened to her on New Year's so she'd been there as well. I told her she was a really good person.. it's hard to find honest people these days. So I guess my theory about Rick accidently grabbing it with his backpack was correct, except he just didn't notice it falling when he got out. I did call and leave him a message with the good news (I knew he was on his way to Monterey) and said I still had a good time earlier regardless. He emailed me later saying he was super happy it was found, but felt really bad for being responsible for causing me that stress since he wasn't paying attention. And again.. 'see ya later'. Soo.. I emailed back that really it's all good, i've over it and please not to feel any guilt over it. I tried putting out there again that it would be cool to see each other apart from the meetups, so if he still doesn't pursue it, then I dunno. Although he seems attracted to me, he's just not taking it to the next step. If he doesn't want to pursue a date with me, then I'm not gonna keep pushin it. Will just see what happens..

So yes.. a happy ending, yays. :) Nice to know there's still good peeps in this crazy world. I know i'd do the same. Was happy not to deal with all the replacement hassle too cuz I was still drained from the night before and really wanted to just relax. My cough did get worse and my nose started up so i'm thinking I caught a bit of a cold too. So took a nap and later called it an early night as well. Still schnuffly and wheezy today so layed pretty low today as well. Thinking I might call in sick tomorrow since A/C blowing on me wouldn't be such a good thing right now. Plus i have rehearsal tomorrow night on stage in costume that I can't be worse for.

Hope you enjoyed my long adventurous story.. will catch up a bit more here tomorrow. ;)
