EDIT: My comment about those in their early 20s still stands. It's true that I do have several friends in that age range who are responsible, but you'll also note that I don't associate them because of their responsible behavior with that age group. Sorry if I offended anyone.
Abortion?:I'm neither pro-choice nor pro-life because I don't think this is a situation in which one can take a hard stand. I don't like seeing it used as birth control. Death Penalty?:I've been a victim if the judicial system. As long as there's a margin for human error it should be reserved only for cases clearly proven beyond reasonable doubt. Prostitution?:I'd like to see it legal, but with licensing and proper sanitary precautions to ensure safety and quality. Alcohol?:I don't use it, but I like the occasional glass of wine. As long as the people using it don't hurt anyone, they can keep using it. Marijuana?:Legalize it for medical use and allow one or two plants for personal use (there are those who just find the plant beautiful). Other drugs?:Legalize for recreational use but don't pay for addiction related medical care. If they're going to dance, they should pay the fiddler. Gay marriage?:Civil union for everyone, irrespective of sexual orientation, gender, race, or religion. Marriage is nothing more than a legal contract. Illegal immigrants?:Treat with compassion and evaluate on a case-by-case basis. If the person has mad reasonable effort to integrate, allow time to naturalize. Otherwise, out you go. Smoking?:I'd prefer all public places smoke free with smoking allowed in homes or private establishments only. Drunk driving?:THe person made the choice to drink that much. He or she made the choice to drive. Make them pay for the choice, especially if property damage or death occurs. Cloning?:I'd like to see it legal with limitations. Cloning of organs and other tissues would be acceptable, but I don't want to see fetuses grown for harvesting. Racism?:It's not something I cultivate, but I don't think someone saying they're not racist would be honest. Everyone has prejudices based on stereotypes and acts according to them. Premarital sex?:Sex between two consenting individuals fully able to understand the implications and consequences of their actions is acceptable. Religion?:I practice tolerance; I may not agree with or believe in that person's religion, but I respect their right to have one as long as I'm allowed mine too. The war in Iraq?:Wars happen. This one occurred for the wrong reason. Call it what it is: an occupation, a taking by force of another country. Bush?:Don't look at me, I didn't vote for him! His policies resemble those of a dictator building an empire and that scares me. Downloading music?:Downloading music you've purchased or paying a legitimate source to download the music is fine. I don't approve of downloading for the purpose of avoiding paying for stuff. The legal drinking age?:I'd raise it to twenty-five and exclude all students regardless of age. Porn?:I have the same policy with porn as I do religion: as long as I don't have to look at it and I have the choice of not doing so in public places, you can have it. Suicide?:It's an individual choice. If someone wants to leave the world so badly, nothing you do will prevent it. In cases of terminal illness, let the person die in dignity.
