MSRide day 1

Aug 15, 2009 21:36

Attempted the century loop...they need to warn about the hills on that thing, and the loose gravel road.

time: 6:16'28
Dist: 88.46
avg: 14.1 mph (with walking up a hill and a fair number of stops)
max: 31.6 \o/

Had I gone 3 more miles I'd have rolled over 200 on my odometer, but I've actually already done more than 200 on that bike, just don't know for sure the mileage I did before getting the bike computer.

We came home because I overdid it big time with not having trained on my semi-recently adjusted bike enough. Also, we realized that with Froggy's health issues camping might not be the best idea till he's seen the orthopedist and done physical therapy. The nice volunteers at the MS ride told me I should try to at least stop by the picnic tomorrow and gave me my completion medal early. I only feel a little down about punking out of day 2, but it was too hot for me today and it's supposed to be hotter tomorrow. With the way my thighs and knees feel (and to a lesser degree my back) it just seemed like tempting fate to do another 75.
