To Cardiff and back

Jan 13, 2010 21:12

So, the last weekend it was panto-time for me again. I had early flight on Friday morning
to London from Helsinki. Fortunately I had bought the tickets from Finnair and not from
EasyJet, because Heathrow was open but Gatwick wasn't.

The morning didn't start the best possible way: I woke up with a sore throat. Hot tea
helped but the cold stayed to annoy me for the whole weekend.

The flight got on time to London and I had time to go and eat lunch before heading to
Cardiff. I already knew that half of the trains to Cardiff had
been cancelled, including the one I was supposed to take. I took the previous one, no
problems with that and arrived to Cardiff little bit earlier that I had planned.

I did short shopping trip in the city after checking in to the hotel and then is was time
for the first panto show. I bought the ticket only few weeks ago, so the seat was waaaaay
back in the P row. Not a bad seat though, I was actually very good seat to watch the show.

John Barrowman was amazing, as always, and though the show was mostly the same as last
year, I still had good time. At the end, John bought CJ on the stage and told they were
raising money for the Dogs Trust. Yay!

CJ was really cute and relaxed. He didn't mind at all the audience or the noise.

Afterwards I was so tired I went straight to the hotel to sleep. There was time to hang
around the stage door on Saturday.

So, come Saturday and just amazing weather. The sun was shining from cloudless sky, just
perfect for walking to the Bay to visit the shrine. The walkway down to the shrine was
actually closed because it was slippery, but the obstacles were easy to bypass. =)

So, I added my stuff and took some pictures and then headed to the Doctor Who exhibition
at the Red Dragon Centre. There was some new stuff since my last visit (autumn 2007) and
the cybermen and the daleks were still scary. =)

I bought another Ianto Jones figure from the shop, can't have too much of them.

Then it was time to get back to city and eat something before the first panto show of
the day. I had seat A18 for both of the shows, a very good place to drool over John.
How many times can you laught at the same jokes? Endlessly it seems, at least
when John Barrowman is involved. =)

Got back to hotel and got some snack and then back to the New Theatre for the evening
show. We got Captain Jack at the end again. =)

And then it was time to collect autographs from Don Maclean, Andy Jones and Pete
Gallagher. I chatted with them briefly too, great guys all of them. John was hiding
inside until the stage door was empty, but then again, I knew he wasn't doing any
signing during the panto.

I thought of staying until he left, but was too tired with that stupid cold to stay, and
it was going to be early morning too, I had to get back to London to catch my flight.
I slept really poorly, stressing if the weather would allow my coach to get to London.

Thankfully, there wasn't any problems with the coach and I had time to eat and run around
spending money before heading to Heathrow. Flight was on time and I got back to Finland
were it was still truly cold (-15 Celsius) and lots of snow.

Next panto? December 2010, Glasgow.
