caffeine

Ok, so I kicked caffeine again. I hadn't been having a ton or anything.. I'd have a cup of coffee in the morning, then a soda later in the day, and then I started having another soda after that, which is when I decided to stop again. I've decided to start thinking of caffeine as a tool to use when I need to focus on something repetitive and mechanical, but otherwise I think it really interferes with my relaxing & creative thinking, and attention span. And I wasn't sleeping that well, and I wasn't waking up feeling rested.

I stopped about a week and a half ago and don't really have any cravings or anything. The immediate short term consequences:
* 2 days of pretty awful headaches - went to bed early the second day and got up feeling fine after that.
* Huge, noticeable improvement in sleep - waking up feeling like I've got a lot of energy, etc.
* Less irritable & anxious at work
* Start to drag around 9pm, but if I stay out late I feel like I can just keep going, so it's not bad
* I think I'm more susceptible to hunger & needing regular meals to keep energy up
* Besides the dragging in the late evening, I feel very even and regular and more attentive

Soo.. net gain, I think.
