A few good men

You ever have one of those days, where it just kind of embodies Monday? That was how my day started. I got yelled at, people were grumpy, things didn't go right, it was just... one of those days. Then we started winding down, the last two hours of my shift, and suddenly everything turned around.

First I got an adorable little couple who are renovating a 1890s house, then I got a fellow who came in just to make sure I'd gotten my kudos from management, then I got one of my favorite contractors who, when hearing that I'd gotten snarled at a couple of times earlier, informed me that he married into an Italian family and next time I should let him know so he could take care of the problem. ^^;;

And last, last was the best of all, and I'm still beaming. Last Saturday I had a fellow in whose well pump was not working. For some reason Plumbing handed him off to me (I think because it was on the electrical side of things, but still, it involved products in the Plumbing department that I was only passingly familiar with) and I spent quite a bit of time essentially learning how to wire a pump on the spot in order to get the man's water working. At that point he'd been without water for four days, including a weekend visit by his mother-in-law with no flushable toilets. @__@ He was in toward the end of the day, and I had no idea after we closed if he got it working or not.

So, today, I get a phone call. It's the well guy, whose name is apparently Ken, wanting to know if I got my tea. I'm understandably confused, but as it turns out the well is working again and he was in yesterday with a jug of tea for me and browbeat my manager into giving it to me, since we're not technically supposed to accept gifts/tips/etc. ^^;; Said manager did in fact make sure I got my tea, saying he talked her ear off for 45 minutes and if she didn't give me my tea he'd probably come back and beat her. *laugh*

So, yeah. I feel loved. <3
