This Saturday was my deadline to have a job, a place, and all my crap packed up to get to VA. My vision on the plane ride home in October was to be sitting in my car on December 16th, with a couple thousand dollars in the savings account, hands on wheel, ready to *go*.
This is where reality takes over. In the real world I had a lot of debt, loose ends and craziness going on that took up the two months I alotted myself. Here, is a brief recanting of what I have accomplished in the last 50 days.
1. Credit card of $1,000 dollars is paid off. The card is still open as an account, but no physical card exists at this point. I may begin to use it to buy gas each month and pay off to maintain good credit standing.
2. My phone bills from BayCon ($800) are paid off completely. I called the finance department at Verizon, and they have already sent out the letter to the credit bureau saying Im paid off.
3. I ran all of my credit reports, and corrected some errors (including one that showed my mother as my wife).
4. I have opened my 401(k) and set 8% (the max at my company) of my paycheck to go to it with a mutual fund that generates 24% returns on average. ING is awesome! Also, my company matches my contributions; 67 cents per dollar for the first half of my contribution and 50 cents per dollar for the second half.
5. Ive arranged my living situation for the next 4 months, maintaining that ever so crucial 0 dollar rent amount, allowing me to put money away every paycheck.
6. I opened a savings account. Twice a month I deposit at least $500 into the account, if not more.
7. I have taken my photography more seriously. Im working on finding some exciting subject matter to enter into a contest (which? TBD).
Ooops. Running out of time. Will do more later :)
