Its kinda weird but today, my uncle david passed away, well he wasnt really my uncle but, he was my dads uncle. But I called him uncle david out of respect, plus it was easier than saying great-uncle david or grand-uncle david. so I thought that out of respect I would write a eulogy for him because I know I wont be able to go to the funeral, but I want to write one just because I know it will only be read by a few people. So here we go.
For most of my life I never knew about Uncle David or his wife, Aunt Fran who unfortunatly passed away this past Christmas. Until later on I began to hear about them, mainly from listening in on my parents conversations with other people. The first time I met them it was when my parents took myself and my sister down to Toronto to visit with friends and family. We drove out to Hamilton to meet them for the first time and almost got lost trying to find their apartment, when we got there we were greeted with open arms and many handshakes. We visited for a little bit, I was very interested at looking out over the vista view they had of Hamilton. Michelle was pretty much trying to talk to the birds, but thats cuz she is a wannabe vet. After a short visit we left and went for Lunch at a restaurant called "The Hamilton" I believe. It was a very fancy restaurant, during the meal, a large lady came and sat down on a stool over by the bar, Uncle David leaned over to me and said "You have to wonder how she is balancing on that." First there was shock, that I had just heard a fat person joke from Uncle David, next came the desire to laugh of which, if you know me, I did. We unfortunatly had to leave after the meal and head back to Toronto to visit with my Uncle Ernie(my dads best friend growing up)for his wedding anniversary BBQ. Every now and then we would get a call or call Uncle David and Aunt Fran. During the time I visited them and when I went to College, both Aunt Fran and Uncle David suffered strokes which unfortunatly left them walker-bound but this did not get them down as long as they were together. When I left for college and was there during my birthday, I recieved a card in the mail, it was from them wishing me a happy birthday and wishing they could visit. I later thanked them in a phone call from home. The second and sadly last time I met them was just this past year. I had just moved out of Prov's place and was on my way back home, my dad did not inform me of this but we drove to Toronto to visit with ppl. We saw Uncle Ernie and Aunt Judy, we also drove out to Hamilton to visit you guessed it Uncle David and Aunt Fran who had moved from their previous residence to the Inner City of Hamilton from their rooftop you could see Lake Ontario and the smelting mill, as well as a massive mountain and their old apartment building. They were located now just a 1/4 of a block away from 3 different Irish Pubs, NICE. They also watched a movie shoot from their apt and Aunt Fran was almost in it because she was out getting some fruit. She thanked them but said she wanted to get home to be with Uncle David. While visiting them they wished they could have been able to say hi to Mom and Michelle, "Never Fear" I joked, I whipped out my Digital Camera and told them that I could not only get pictures of our visit but some video too. So I set up the camera and gave them about 30-50 seconds to say hello due to disk size unfortunatly. So after I collected the footage and showed my mom and sister they both called back and said that it was nice they were able to be on camera for a bit. A couple months later to be precise December, just after Christmas, Aunt Fran unexpectedly passed away, my dad flew down for the funeral to be exact was making plans the day he heard that she had passed away. After the funeral my dad hung out with Uncle David for a few hours and went out for lunch, then had to leave. Exactly 1 month and 4 days later Uncle David passed away. May he Rest In Peace, cuz well he deserves the peace, he was a funny and outright good person.
And I heard about this maybe 20-30 mins ago and this is what I managed to come up with. Thanks for reading if you do.
