Caution: Long-ass post!

August 20th was my sister's wedding, and despite all the hectic-ness, it was really fun.

The rehearsal was the 19th at Marc's parents' place, at 3:00, so my dad of course picked me up at my apartment at 3:15... We then had to go back to my parents' place, and didn't actually get to Marc's parents' until quite a while later than that. And then we proceeded to wait. And wait, and wait. The minister showed up around 5:00, but they couldn't start the rehearsal because the soloist wasn't there yet. Not to mention that one of the ushers was missing. Apparently they'd spoken to him around 3:30 because he hadn't picked up his tux yet, and he said he'd go get it, but at 8:30, he still hadn't. And the stored closed at 9:00. Sigh. Really reliable, isn't he? He didn't show up the day of the wedding either. :P

Kat was there, taking video of the chaos. I mean rehearsal. However, since the soloist and usher weren't there, they didn't start the rehearsal until late, and she had to go for dinner with Kurt. And I had a headache from all the screaming children there (siblings of the ring bearer and flower girl), and so I went home to the nice quiet house.

My cousin Heather had managed to get a little lost, and finally showed up sometime around 11:00 with her friend Travis from Australia, who just moved to Toronto, and we stayed up until 12:30 talking before Mom shooed us all off to bed. Of course, I had to shave before the day of the wedding, so I went down to the basement (where I was sleeping on the couch, yay), and got out my electric razor, which was fully charged, yet only lasted ten bloody minutes. :( So I plugged it back in and let it charge, and finally gave up on it around 2:30am and went to bed, since I had to get up in four hours.

After four very uncomfortable hours of sleep (I think I woke up eight times before I finally got up at 6:30), we went to the hair salon and had mimosas and croissants while we had our hair done, and then went back to my mom's place to get our makeup done. Once I had my hair and makeup all finished, I walked into the bathroom to see it, and had a moment of, "woah, who the heck is THAT??" when I looked in the mirror. :)

Bev Bacon made BLTs for lunch (since my sister's initials are BLT - or rather they were; now they're BLL), and then we got dressed and did a few photos at the house before heading out to the Lone Star Ranch for the wedding.

The location was beautiful, outdoors and surrounded by trees. I got quite teary-eyed when Becky started walking down the aisle, with Mom on one side and Dad on the other, and was a little sniffly through the ceremony, but Clarke (the best man, Eric Clarke), kept the mood pretty light with a couple of jokes, and so did the minister, and even Becky and Marc.

We did a few photos there after the ceremony before driving to Andrew Haydon Park down by the river for the rest of the photos. It was so beautiful there, until you looked down at the grass and realized just how much duck shit was on the ground. Whoops!

Back at the Lone Star, we did the speeches (Dad's made me cry) had dinner (buffet-style ribs and fajitas!), and then the first dance, and the father-daughter dance (and I cried some more, but actually managed to not ruin my mascara at all!), and then they cranked the music, and the party started. :)

It was a whole lot of fun, and I'm sure there's tons that I'm forgetting to write about, but I've had a grand total of thirteen hours of sleep in the past three days, so I'm a bit tired! The night of the wedding we got into bed around 3:00am, and I woke up at 7:20 to go to the washroom, and couldn't get back to sleep because people started banging around upstairs starting to set up tables and everything for brunch.

George from down the street (who's a chef) came over to cook brunch (pancakes, eggs, sausages, hash browns, etc), and we had about forty people over for food and to open the gifts. My Aunt Shari made them a scrapbook, and will finish it once she gets pics developed from the wedding.

By the time I finally got back to my apartment, I was completely exhausted, and collapsed for a two-hour nap, then woke up and had some food and watched a bit of TV, and wrote this. :)

All in all, it was a fun, but exhausting few days, and I can't imagine how stressed and tired Marc and Becky must be. As wonderful as it was to see the whole family together (including Uncle Jeff in his full Scottish regalia!), there's definitely something to be said for eloping! I suppose I can make that decision when/if it comes to it.

So I'll be posting pictures eventually (in theory!), but anyone who knows me will know not to hold their breath about that! ;)

Anyways, my hockey camp starts tomorrow! (Eeeeeee!!!) And I am still way tired, so I should think about getting into bed. It is going to be so nice to be back in my own bed!
