Been a while since the last update - around a month or so. I haven't had too much to report. Work has been going well.
With taxes behind me, I got my refund and have decided to put it towards a new computer. This comes at an extremely opportune time, since my hard drive has begun making grinding noises every now and then. Considering that I haven't been able to play a decent strategy game since Warcraft 3, I feel like an upgrade is required. So, after about a week's worth of research, I've decided on this guy:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883147092&Tpk=HP%20Pavilion%20Elite%20HPE-170f%20PC The critical selection criteria was quality of the graphics card, since I'm not too fond of personally pulling parts out of the tower - I needed something that would run well with a limited amount of tinkering from myself. Also, Dillon has a spare Starcraft 2 beta key, so I'll be gleefully humming the Imperial March a bit more often now.
I ordered it last night, and came home from work expecting to see it's status as "shipped". Instead, its status was "Hold".....apparently something fucked up when they tried to charge my account, so I have to contact them tomorrow and see how to resolve. Unfortunately, I see best case result of this being the earliest I can play is the upcoming Sunday.
Alison finished her oral exams - FULL PASS! She's now officially a Ph.D candidate, and will be sticking around for another 4-5 years. I'll be visiting her Thursday-Sunday to help her celebrate.
Still no social life in Arizona, but there is hope on the horizon. I've noticed a new meetup group for loner 20-something has been created, so it has the added benefit of not having well-entrenched cliques I need to dig my way through. And the first meeting is going to be at a Dave and Busters - which means VIDEOGAMES, the best means of socialization.
