5 cm. per Second - a chain of short stories about their distance

Oct 21, 2007 15:47

I just watched this again, and I need to tell everyone how incredible that movie is.

5 cm. per Second is an anime movie directed by God himself: Makoto Shinkai. It consists of three parts, following different parts of the life of Takaki Touno, from childhood to adulthood, concentrating on the themes love, relationships, distance and growing up.

The animation is, as expected from Shinkai, breathtaking. Words can not describe the beauty of this movie. I can pause it at any time, and I have an amazing wallpaper. I have yet to see anything even close to this level, and the animation really helps with the overall mood. Shinkai himself once said that one of the fun things about making anime was that he could make things prettier than real life, which I do believe he has achieved.

The music, too, is excellent. Tenmon, who has worked on all of Shinkai's movies, provides a truly beautiful soundtrack that really improves the movie even more. Just to illustrate how much I love it: I often get bored quickly of soundtracks, and seldom listen to it for long. This week, I've listened through the entire soundtrack 10 times (EDIT: make that 11). There is also a song at the end of the movie which is just... <3.

All in all, I think this is the movie that have meant the most to me personally, as it really made me realize I have a more sentimental side too. When I re-watched this, I cried through the entire third part, and I still have a very special feeling in me that won't go away. This is not a movie you just watch and then forget about, it is a very special piece of art that you will never forget. 10/10, and one of my favorite movies of all time.

So, watch it. I IMPLORE YOU! D: It's just over an hour long, you won't regret it. (If you have trouble finding it, I will personally upload it for you.)

EDIT: if you're still not convinced, watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tvos4SDJacU

(I will not rest until everyone I know has seen this.)
