I just beginning to like O'Connor.

I'm surprised Rehnquist hasn't announced anything yet.

i think rehnquist's [surprising] silence on the subject [of his own retirement] makes a lot more sense now.

So, of course, does settling the nuclear option the way that they did. Because the Democrats now have their "extraordinary circumstances".

No, that's not quite true.

The Dems have their "extraordinary circumestances" iff Bush selects a radical conservative to replace O'Connor.

If Bush puts up a moderate conservative, especially a hispanic or a female candidate, and the Dems fillibuster, it will hurt them in the midterm elections of 2006.
