forlán m.d.

Last night I had a really weird dream and I don't know if I should blame this on the House M.D. marathon that teh_farmer and I are currently doing.

Some of you might know that I have an autoimmune disease that is currently treatable but not curable. My dream was set at some point in the future: some doctor had found a cure for it but it was not widely accepted yet, and so only a couple of practices were using it. My parents and I decided to give it a shot and drove to the practice where the cure was discovered. And when I entered the practice room, who was standing right in front of me, wearing a white coat and holding a stethoscope? Yes. Diego Forlán. He introduced himself (unnecessarily), and I nearly freaked out when I realised he was speaking in German. I don't think my native language ever sounded so good. I said very little during the entire examination, worried I might just babble incoherent stuff, and I almost didn't dare to move either when he examined my stomach. My dad, who recognised him, let it slip that I'm into football, and Diego smiled and explained that after he ended his active career he decided to get into medicine because he didn't want to waste time lazing about when he could be useful and help people. Occasionally he switched to Spanish without noticing, and when my parents said something he excused himself and repeated what he'd said in German. Turns out he was the one who had found the cure for this autoimmune disease! He gave me an injection and said I should come back in a month for the next injection. When I left the examination room with a heart rate that had to be about 400, I suddenly discovered that I was holding something in my hands. I unfolded it, and it was an Atlético shirt with Diego's name and number on the back - he had given it to me as a gift. WTF, I know, but I so didn't want to get out of bed this morning. ;)

In completely unrelated news, the friend who will accompany me to Bilbao in two weeks bought a book with the most common Spanish phrases because he doesn't speak the language at all. Amongst very useful things, the book also contains translations for these:

I'm sorry, I can't get it up.
Leave it, I'm going to get myself off.
That is all.
