First title of season? WE CAN HAS IT.
I was at the match because the DFL had chosen the Impuls Arena in Augsburg as the host of the Super Cup, and it was quite an experience!
The fact that Bayern lost against Schalke last weekend at the Liga Total Cup made sure that this match would be exciting, especially since the Super Cup is the first title of the season and the first chance for either team to give a little warning to the other contestants for the league title. Schalke took it seriously and appeared with a proper A-squad, while Louis van Gaal obviously thought that half an A-squad was enough against Schalke. Apart from the injured van Buyten and Robben, he rested Ribéry, van Bommel and Butt, and subbed out Schweinsteiger and Altintop in the second half.
And yeah, Raúl was there too. God, my heart bled when I saw him wear that shirt. It's SO WRONG. It's not even just that he's not wearing Real Madrid's white shirt anymore but that he's now wearing SCHALKE'S. It's like Paolo Maldini transferring to... well, a club that's not really world class and that nobody likes except their fans. (I don't think there's actually another club like Schalke.) *sigh*
Anyway. The match itself wasn't really that amazing, and it showed that we're in the middle of preseason, but the goals were brilliant and I enjoyed watching Bayern play again. Unfortunately Demichelis had to be subbed out with injury during the second half, and I hope it's nothing serious. *bites nails*

The guy in the middle is Sergio Escudero, a 20-year-old Spanish leftback who used to play for Real Murcia and was signed by Schalke this season. What is it with Schalke getting all those Spaniards? It's NOT FAIR!

During corners, Micho was ordered to keep a sharp eye on Raúl.
Micho injured himself during a tackle that won Bayern the ball. He continued playing for a while but then had to be subbed out.
After Micho was subbed out, Sosa was responsible to watch Raúl during corner kicks.
Award ceremony.
After some handshakes and little chats...
... left the pitch. Raúl gave an interview (does anyone have a video of that?).
The Bayern players chatted on the pitch while the stadium employees set up a little pedestal.
I just posted that pic because I somehow adore Sosa's pose. ;)

The entire stadium cheered for them. (In fact, there was only one Schalke fanblock, and the rest of the stadium was red and white. XD)
